Lara Beach is like one big movie set. Known as Turkey's Las Vegas, this lively and safe resort town is brimming with hotels modelled on famous landmarks, golden sand beaches, pubs, clubs and bars and even the odd celebrity. Lara Beach holidays are about spending time on the sand, taking to the waters and exploring the nearby town. With a gorgeous Turkish climate, this sun-drenched resort offers fantastic sunny holidays almost all year round - perfect for a last minute stint in the sun.
Kick off your sandals and wander down one of the longest beaches in Turkey, backed by a gorgeous line-up of hotels boasting first-class sea views, restaurants and bars serving snacks and cocktails. Better still, you can dine with a view in one of the beachfront hotels such as the Titanic and Barut Lara. If you ever tire of the beach (it's unlikely), catch a shuttle bus to Sultan Bazaar for traditional souvenir stalls, big-name brands, restaurants and even a Turkish bath. In the evenings, you can hit any of the hotels for quality food, drink and entertainment or head into Antalya for a mix of clubs and cocktail hangouts.
Holidays to Lara Beach are usually best visited during the months of June to September, when the weather is dry and hot. Antalya Airport, at a distance of 11.4km from Lara Beach, is the nearest airport to this resort town - so you can stop and admire the city before heading to the beach!
Lara Beach is a golden-sand stretch with gentle warm waves backed by a pretty promenade. The shallow water here is great for kids to paddle and swim in while you sit and relax under the sun. The hotels have acquired most of the sands and each offer plenty of amenities – there are umbrellas, loungers and some stylish beach bars to try too.
The glamourous hotels that line the beach let holidaymakers wake up and stroll right out onto the sand. In the daytime, explore the indoor souvenir shops or relax at the lounge near the swimming pools, and in evenings, the seafront restaurants, nightclubs and bars set the mood for a sophisticated night on the town.
If you're after an adventure, enjoy a fun family day out at one of the resort's nearby attractions. Make a splash at the local waterpark where you'll enjoy a fantastic flumes and swirling slides or go on a boat trip and soak up the spectacular mountainous scenery, stopping at the iconic Duden Falls to swim and snorkel in its blue waters. Thrill seekers can embark on an off road safari exploring Turkey's rural villages and jaw dropping hilltops in a 4x4. Or why not travel over the Olympos-Beydağlari National Park on Tahtali Aerial Cableway, the second longest in the world? If you're travelling with small children, it's worth checking out the local Kids Club where activities are planned and monitored.
Drive 30-minutes north and you'll reach Antalya, the largest city on the Turkish Med with plenty to see and do. Make your way to Kaleci and explore it's characteristic old town, cobbled streets and historical sights before moving onto the marina. Shoppers can head for the souks, souvenir shops and markets and pick up all sorts of items from carpets to baklava. Or, why not find the famous Karpuzkaldiran waterfalls and soak up sights of its beautiful turquoise waters?
