The best time to visit Benalmadena is usually between the months of June and September. The weather during this period is wonderfully warm and your days will be filled with bright sunshine, perfect for relaxing on the beach and exploring the towns. The resort is easily accessible from all parts of Spain with the nearest airport being Málaga, located at just 14km from the beach town.

A visit to the Sealife aquarium in Benalmadena’s marina is a great way to get close to sting rays, sharks and more while the Aqualand waterpark in Torremelinos is just down the road from Benalmadena and is the largest on the island. Kids will love fun-packed rides including the Black Hole, Gran Canyon and Twister. Also, don’t miss the lovely butterfly park, Mariposario de Benalmadena.

Parque de la Paloma is a gorgeous green space with lots of small animals like hare, deer and peacock roaming freely. A great place for kids to play and adults to relax in the shade.

Getting Around Benalmadena

🚌 Transport in the Benalmadena Region

Benalmadena is only a fifteen minute drive from Malaga airport, meaning you can go from plane to pool in super quick time! Taxis and car hire are available and there’s also a handy airport train. Most hotels are within easy reach of the beach and taxis are plentiful for longer journeys. The tourist train and hop-on-hop-off bus are both great ways to get around and see the main sights.

Travelling by bus or carThe main bus stop, located next to the Benalmar shopping centre, has a ticket kiosk where you can buy before you board. There’s a good service to Malaga, Marbella, Torremolinos and other Costa del Sol resorts. The drive from the airport is easy and well signposted. If you don’t plan to leave the resort, car hire isn’t necessary but many tourists like the freedom to explore it gives them. Remember to stick to the right.
