Cheap Holidays to Zante (Zakynthos)

On the eastern part of the Ionian Sea is the gorgeous Greek island of Zakynthos or Zante. The Venetians once called it ‘The Flower of the Orient’ for its picture-perfect countryside, spectacular shoreline and towering chalk-coloured cliffs overlooking the vast blue ocean. With something for every taste, holidays in Zante are all about pristine white beaches, idyllic coves and enjoying the Mediterranean sun.

The island is easily accessible from Athens and there are also ferries crossing from neighbouring Killini and Kefalonia. You can expect plenty of sunshine and cool ocean winds throughout the year, with the months from June to August recording some of the highest temperatures. Nature lovers are in for a treat during Zante holidays, as the resort not only boasts lush vegetation but is also home to famous loggerhead turtles. In the western part of the island, you'll find stunning beaches backed by soaring limestone cliffs, with natural caves that have been cut into them due to erosion over thousands of years.

If you're up for a lively nights out, head over to Zakynthos town, which has an impressive selection of cocktail bars. Laganas town in the north has the some of the largest discos and nightclubs too, which serve up cheap drinks and pulsating music from international DJs. A resort of variety, holidays in Zante are also steeped in history and culture, with some of the best museums, including the Byzantine Museum and the Museum of Solomos, worth exploring – it really is a destination that suits all.
