Cheap Holidays to Argassi

Argassi is one of Zante’s oldest seaside resort towns, located between Zante Town and the Vassilikos Peninsula, on the east coast of Zakynthos island. Surrounded by beautiful pine tree scenery and colourful flora, Argassi holidays are a nature-lover’s paradise. The towering Mount Skopos overlooks the pretty village. With good connectivity to Zante and a heady combination of activities, Argassi ticks all the boxes for fun-seeking travelers.

Holidays to Argassi promise laid-back days spent on the sand and shingle beach, soaking up the natural beauty thanks to a backdrop of scenic pine forests. A favourite for children, this resort boasts shallow waters ideal for little ones to paddle and swim in.  While this peaceful resort represents everything you’d expect from a sleepy Greek village, the capital of Zante Town is just a 10-minute train ride away, offering visitors a slight change of pace.

Take a boat trip to Smugglers Cove (the island’s most photographed beach), grab your hiking boots and explore the hilly coastal trails, enjoy a spot of retail therapy on Argassi’s main street, and indulge in the fantastic Greek food. Some of the best tavernas can be found along the main street, but it’s worth checking for those that are hidden away too – these family-run eateries serve incredible homemade dishes and usually aren’t as busy as those in the centre. After dinner, there are a few lively bars open for you to can grab a drink in.

A must-visit in Argassi is the Church of the Virgin Mary of Skopiotissa. Perched on Mount Skopos and built in 1624, this is one of the top tourist sights here. Its high walls are decorated with beautiful murals of Virgin Skopiotissa and other saints. The screen behind the altar (Iconostasis) is made of stone, and not wood, like in other Orthodox churches. The church also offers a vantage point from where you can benefit from mesmerizing views of the island and the sea.
