  • El ArenalThis wide stretch of beach is a hit with tourists due to its excellent promenade, array of shops and amenities. This beach is located on the eastern end of the Playa de Palma resort, around 15km from the centre of Palma.
  • Cala MayorAnother popular tourist magnet, Cala Mayor was built with holidaymakers in mind. The waters are crystal clear at this family-friendly destination and it is a great jumping off point for the surrounding high-end resorts.

Getting Around Palma City

🚌 Transport in the Palma City Region

Palma is a compact network of pretty lanes and alleyways, therefore walking is your best bet for general sightseeing and exploring. Bikes are available for hire too, but be wary of careless drivers. If you’re after something a little romantic, horse drawn carriages can take you around the historic centre. Taxis are readily available in Majorca, ask about the fare before getting in though. There’s also a vintage train between Palma and Puerto de Soller, and two metro lines.

Travelling by bus or carThere are plenty of hop-on tour buses available to explore the city, as well as various bus services travelling locally and further afield across Majorca. Buses can be found at the Plaza Espanya. Avoid using a car in the city due to heavy traffic and limited parking, but consider hiring one for the day if you’d like to explore Majorca further. Rental offices are available at the airport and in the city. Drive on the right-hand side.
