Travelling by bus or car You can get regular buses to resorts such as Chania (50 minutes) and Rethymno (20 minutes) hourly, and all buses stop on the main road outside of town. Using public transport is not a bad idea but if you want the flexibility and freedom to really explore this incredible part of Crete, renting a car is the way to do it.

You don’t need a visa to visit Georgioupolis, but you do require a valid passport that will remain valid for 6 months following your visit.

Health and Safety

Georgioupolis is considered a very safe part of Crete with very low crime rates. Don’t be alarmed if you come across locals begging on the beaches and on the streets. More often than not, these friendly people are simply selling things such as cheap jewellery to try to make a living.
