We've all experienced otherworldly moments that have to be seen, to be believed - right? Cascading waterfalls that glint in the sunlight, incredible natural formations that look as though they've been hand-sculpted, panoramic cityscapes that pulse with life or enchanting forests that seem almost untouched - it's these spectacular places that capture the real meaning behind "a photo is worth a thousand words". While we can't pick out every beautiful destination in the world, we can give you a sneak peek into some of our personal favourites in celebration of World Photo Day - or better still, jet off and visit them for yourself. Here are 6 of the most spectacular spots to take a selfie...

PLITVICE LAKES, CROATIA

A beautiful maze of 16 natural lakes and waterfalls, with plush green surroundings and unique waters that change colour depending on the minerals and the sunlight. The Plitvice Lakes look like they've been plucked directly from a fairytale, and you need to see it for yourself in order to believe its fabulous-ness. Next flight out to Croatia, anyone?

ANTELOPE CANYON, ARIZONA

Meander through miles of gorgeous, glowing, pastel-coloured rock formations, featuring layers of swirling warm summer hues. Surrounded by natural beauties including Horseshoe Bend and Lake Powell, Antelope Canyon is the new A-lister in Arizona, sure to give the fabulous Grand Canyon a run for its money. Dazzling beams of sunlight illuminate the scene even more, making these arty, naturally-sculpted sandstones perfect for a selfie shot.

CINQUE TERRE, ITALY

Five stunning towns sitting stylishly on the cliffs of the Italian Riviera, the gorgeous Cinque Terre region is undeniably a paradise with steps. Famous for its candy-colourful houses, breathtaking ocean views, scenic coastal mountain trails and impressive architecture, this Italian gem is guaranteed to offer you endless photo opportunities - and we can't blame it!

CLIFFS OF MOHER, IRELAND

If a dramatic backdrop is what you're after, Ireland has the answer. The breathtaking Cliffs Of Moher soar more than 700 feet over the Atlantic, and are covered in gorgeous wildflowers and lush green grass in the spring and summer months. Walk to the top of the cliffs and have your camera at the ready, if you look closely you can catch a glimpse of dolphins, whales and seals bobbing in the sea. 

CAPPADOCIA, TURKEY

A perfect combination of craggy hills, crumbling rocks and valleys boasting pink chimney formations, Cappadocia serves up an unmatchable natural beauty that can’t be seen anywhere else in the world. And, the best way to explore this region is to hop on a hot air balloon – fired up every day at dawn-time. The photo says it all... 

TROLL’S TONGUE, ODDA, NORWAY

Nicknamed the Troll's Tongue by locals, Trolltunga is a stunning rock formation in Odda, Norway. The rock was naturally formed way back in the Ice Age, when the glacial water froze a chunk of the mountain and ultimately broke it down into the shape of a tongue. It's an ideal destination for outdoorsy types, with world-class mountain treks to take on - put on those hiking shoes and soak in the gorgeous views from the top.
