But it’s not only the kids who will never forget their trip to Orlando. With year-round sun, sand and clear blue seas, Orlando boasts some of the most beautiful beaches in the world as well as an excellent range of shops, restaurants and sporting and cultural attractions in the surrounding areas - you can even plan your itinerary thanks to our guide on the top things to do in Orlando with the family.

Papagayo beach near Las Coloradas resort on the south of Lanzarote island in Spain

Lanzarote, off the coast of West Africa, is the jewel of the Canary Islands and is known for its year-round warm weather, unspoilt beaches (discover five of the best beaches in Lanzarote here) and volcanic landscapes to match. There are a number of excellent family hotels in resorts like Playa Blanca, Puerto del Carmen and Costa Teguise, and despite the island’s upmarket feel, Lanzarote holidays are very competitively priced.

Along with an average year-round temperate of 22°C and a reasonably short flight from the UK (a doable four hours even with toddlers), there’s also a wide range of fun attractions and things to do for kids in Lanzarote. This includes camel rides across the island’s Timanfaya National Park, tours along the ‘Route of Volcanoes’, plus the chance to explore underground lava tubes. The island also has the giant Aquapark Costa Teguise, where kids can speed down the Aqua Racer and enjoy the thrills of a Hydrotub ride!

Las teresitas beach in Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain

Tenerife has much to offer families of every kind but we think these cheap family holidays are particularly well suited to new parents. Not only is there no time difference but there’s also the promise of year-round sun and very little rain. There are also quiet seas for splashing around and a sophisticated range of hotels that offer childcare on-site.

If you want a change of scene, grab your hiking boots and explore the vibrant landscape or grab your baby pack and head up Mount Teide in the island’s wild interior. Or, if the kids are a bit older, Tenerife holidays are a great way to treat them to a week of back-to-back waterparks. There are also excellent transport options available, with hire cars and reliable public buses that provide a cheap way to explore the island.

beautiful beach of Cala Deia, Majorca island, Mediterranean Sea.

Majorca, the largest of the Balearic Islands, has been a favourite holiday destination for families for many years thanks to a reliable combination of good weather, affordability, excellent beaches and family-friendly resorts. As well as providing plenty of sunshine in the summer months, it is also blessed with fine weather into autumn that makes it an excellent destination for October half-term with temperatures of 20°C and above.

There are also a host of attractions for children of all ages. A boat trip to Cabrera Island National Park off the south coast of Majorca is the perfect way to spend the day. You can hike up to the 14th-century castle and enjoy superb views of Majorca before heading to Sa Plageta beach to cool off. There’s also a secret world to be discovered in the dark chambers of Arta Caves, with caverns as big as cathedrals and stalagmites and stalactites wherever you look. For new swimmers, the blue flag beach of Playa de Muro with its shallow waters is the perfect spot for safe, family-friendly bathing.

With budget-friendly and more luxurious hotels in popular resorts such as Cala d’Or, Alcudia and the capital Palma, you’re sure to find a Majorca holiday for you. There are also plenty of last minute deals to Majorca so you can find your piece of paradise for less.
