By heck lass, ‘ant it gone cold? As we all shiver to our very core this week with temps dropping into the minuses and snow on the forecast there’s only one sure fire way to beat the winter blues this December and that’s to escape Britain entirely and get theeself ofta sun. The temperature even in the very south of the UK today is a teeth chattering 4c, but in Dubai today it’s 26c, in Tenerife it’s 21c, in Cancun it’s 24c, Cuba is enjoying 23c and in Jamaica you can relax in an average temperature of 31c. Scorchio!
So we’ve succeeded in making you yearn for the sunshine but where should you go?
#1 – Dubai
The city of dreams and our top selling destination, Dubai has never been hotter, in every sense of the word …or more affordable. A five star, seven night stay in Dubai can now be had for as little as £499 a person including flights which we think is impressive value.
Dubai has something for everyone. It’s a shopper’s paradise for those who love designer labels. It has some gorgeous beaches and quality water sports for the beach bums among you. The bars and restaurants are among the best in the world and you can enjoy every kind of leisure activity from quad bikes to museums from concerts to paragliding.
It’s also hot all year around, taking a trip to Dubai in winter is probably the best bet for those of us with a fairer complexion as the summer months can swelter at over 40c.
#2 – Tenerife
The ultimate family holiday destination and the closest on our list with just a 4-hour flight time. A winter holiday to Tenerife is the perfect way to finally get some vitamin D into little Jimmy and Kimmy.
Tenerife is our favourite Canary Island due to the sheer scale of activities on the island that offer mass appeal. From magnificent Mount Tiede to the thrills and spills of Siam Park, Tenerife has something for all family members including grandparents. If you’re thinking of taking your bubble away for Christmas can we recommend visiting our blog page especially about the best family resorts in Tenerife.
#3– Mexico
With some of the world’s best beaches, an ancient and mysterious culture and possibly the greatest food and cocktails in the world who wouldn’t want to go all inclusive to Mexico for winter? And, you can enjoy two weeks here for under £1000 each with flights included! Bargainous.
The best and most popular resorts for all inclusive holidays are Cancun and Riviera Maya where the weather is fabulous and the tequila; free flowing! Both resorts support millions of visitors from all over the globe annually so there’s no shortage of attractions, events, beaches, bars and restaurants to choose from. The weather will be great whenever you go!
#4– Jamaica
The most famous Caribbean island of all makes for the ideal winter getaway and should always be visited between November and April to avoid rainy season. As a substantial island with many different microclimates, temperatures are different across regions, but the top beach resorts of Negril Montego Bay and Ocho Rios provide guaranteed winter sun.
Like the other recommendations, there is so much to see and do in Jamaica that regardless of group type or individual tastes you can create your perfect holiday here. Jamaica doesn’t have to be an expensive holiday either. Sure, there’s many expensive luxury resorts, but equally there are far less fancy but well-located cheaper options too. We recommend the lively area of Montego Bay for a fun packed holiday with lots of accommodation options.
#5– Cuba
If you’re looking for some of the kindest people on the planet and amazing hospitality, as well as winter sun and a strong sense of cultural identity then perhaps Cuba, with it’s retro 60s feel, is the place for your winter sun holiday this year?
It’s hot in Cuba from now until April and without any extreme weather to content with. The key resorts to visit in Cuba are Varadero and Havana. The best deal for this January to Havana can be had at the four star Memories Miramar in Havana for a brilliant £727 return per person for a week including flights and bed and breakfast!
