Getting Around Borneo (Malaysia)

🚌 Transport in the Borneo (Malaysia) Region

The main hub for Malaysia is the capital Kuala Lumpur. Many airlines fly from the UK to Kuala Lumpur with direct flights operated by British Airways and Malaysia Airlines. Once in Malaysia it is relatively easy to get out and about using public transport (mainly within the major cities) or you may wish to hire a car and drive yourself if you’re travelling inland and northwards. There is also an extensive internal flying network that will allow you to explore every corner of this amazing country.

Passports and Visas

British citizens do not require a visa to visit Malaysia if their trip is less than 3 months. You will, however, need to have 6 months validity on your passport. For more information visit https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/malaysia/entry-requirements

Health and Safety

We highly recommend you have full travel and medical insurance for your holiday to Malaysia. For the latest health and safety information visit https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/malaysia/health. Malaysia is quite a vast country but is generally pretty safe. We would always advise to exercise caution in bigger resorts, at night and places away from tourist areas though.

Vaccinations

Travellers to Malaysia should contact their local GP or Travel Clinic to obtain full advice on which vaccinations they will need (some may need Typhoid and/or Hepatitis B). All tourists should also make sure their routine jabs are up to date.
