Getting Around
Getting around Marmari couldn’t be easier with plenty of public transport available to help you make your way around.
Luxurious Marmari Beach
If family days out at the beach are your thing, you have to head to Marmari Beach. Thanks to its long, flat stretch of fluffy sand, Marmari Beach is perfect for kids. The beach also has first-class conditions for windsurfing, and the on-beach windsurfing school makes it a great place to learn the sport, too! You’ll also find surfing and volleyball taking place at the beach. Meanwhile, the gently shelving sands offer plenty of paddling opportunities for little swimmers, allowing you to sit back and relax while your kids splash around in the shallow turquoise waters. Bliss.
Dine At Sagittarius
There are some restaurants you just have to visit in Marmari and Sagittarius is one of them. Just a 10-minute drive east, this renowned family run restaurant, set amongst picturesque fountains and water features, brings you some of the finest food in Greece. You and your family will be welcomed with a smile by owners Manos and Donna. Their grilled sea bream and pizzas are highly recommended, or you could try the Greek Plate for a one-stop offering of delicious Greek flavours.
Learn To Greek Dance
Marmari’s nightlife is perfect for families, after all, what’s better than spending long golden evenings relaxing in seafront bars? And you can be sure there’s always something to keep you entertained. If you’re lucky, you may even get to see some traditional Greek dancing in one of the town’s tavernas. If you and your little ones fancy showing off some moves of your own, you can always hop across to lively Kos Town where you’ll be spoilt for choice with things going on. The Village Of Pyli
For a wonderful family day trip away from the resort, head to the part-ruined village of Pyli, which is roughly 3km inland. Here, you can soak up some incredible historical sites, including the remainder of the Byzantine castle, handed down from the Knights of St John. Your little ones will love exploring the village’s many ancient treasures such as the semi-circular tomb of local hero Charmylos with its 12 crypts. And when you’re done with that, you can drop in for a drink at one of the traditional tavernas in the central square – well-earned after all that learning!
