If Spain has Ibiza, Greece has Malia to rival it. Holidays to Malia, in Crete, offer world-class nightlife and bustling beaches to match. Summers are perfect for a swim in the warm azure waters; Potomas beach is popular with laid-back sunbathers while Glozaine beach is great for watersports lovers.
The lively resort, 12km away from nearest resort Hersonissos, is popular with the 18-30s crowd so if bars and beaches are your bag, Malia holidays are unbeatable. The young crowd finds it a nice, safe and affordable beach destination that's close to home, with an abundance of activities and entertainment on offer. Big nights out are often followed by long lazy days by the pool or beach - for the full Malia experience visit from April and October (average 20°C) when Malia is hot and happening with busy beaches and full of verve!
It's not all about partying from sunset until sunrise, though. Malia holidays are great for families too, with historic highlights including a visit to the ancient Minoan Palace, plus a day trip to the Heraklion region, boasting Venetian Fortresses and 19th Century Mosques. Equally, explore the traditional towns, laze on the beaches, pick up souvenirs on Beach Road, or go on a Land Rover Safari.
Sample the fresh earthy flavours of Greek food during Malia holidays —fresh, light and absolutely delicious. Try mayirefta or the fresh catch of seafood from popular places like Taverna Kalyva to Stablos and Elisabeth. In the evenings carry cotton or linen garments and a light jacket if there is a slight chill.
