Getting Around Punta Cana

🚌 Transport in the Punta Cana Region

Punta Cana is perfect to explore by foot, with pleasant strolls between beaches. Car hire is available – although the driving on the island is quite frenetic. Guaguas (minibuses) are popular and cheap, but don’t expect them to run to time. Taxis can be booked, but using taxi stands may be cheaper.

Travelling by bus or car Guaguas (minibuses) operate in the area, and are very inexpensive. They run around and between the popular resorts, but there is no set schedule, so you need to be patient and wait for one to turn up! You can rent a car easily in Punta Cana, but bear in mind roads can be in poor condition, and other drivers can be reckless. It’s not recommended to drive at night. Driving is on the right hand side.
