Nestled between Puerto Morgan and Puerto Rico on Gran Canaria’s southern coast is the beautiful resort of Playa Taurito, known for its stunning black volcanic sands, sparkling blue water and warm sunny weather. It is great place for relaxation, watersports and family-friendly activities.

The resort is filled with quaint cafes, tasty seafood restaurants and a selection of tapas bars. A range of watersports are available at many of the beaches, including fishing, jet skiing and diving for adventure lovers, while the nearby Puerto Rico has a selection of boat trips and day excursions to choose from. There is also a diving centre located near the beach, which provides lessons for divers of all levels. Little ones need not be disappointed either. Right behind Taurito’s beach is a waterpark called Playa Taurito Lido. It has lagoon-style swimming pools, tropical gardens, mini golf courses, bowling alleys and arcade games fit for all ages. The restaurants in the nearby fishing village of Puerto Morgan are famous for grilled seafood delights, while Puerto Rico is a shopper’s paradise with plenty to shops selling beach wear, flamenco dresses and apparel.

When it comes to nightlife, Playa Taurito may not serve up the same vibe as Puerto Rico, but its clubs and lounges provide a much more intimate experience. Most of the evening entertainment is provided by the hotels, too. Holidays to Playa Taurito are a great way to spend some quality time with friends and family, with great sightseeing and day activities thrown in for good measure.

Places to go and things to do in Playa de Taurito

Playa de Taurito Beach

Playa de Taurito Beach

The resort’s volcanic black sand beach is not as long as some of the other beaches on the island, but it's certainly wide enough to feel spacious. Go pedal-boating, kayaking, jet-skiing or play volleyball on the beach in the backdrop of mountains.

Lagoon-Style Lido

Just behind the beach is Playa Taurito Lido, a big draw for families. It has a pretty lagoon-style swimming pool as well as tropical gardens, slides and a paddling pool for smaller children. They can also race through chutes, boomerang slides and compete with the bigger kids at mini-golf!

Pretty Puerto Mogan

Just ten minutes away is Puerto Mogan, known as Little Venice for it's pretty canals and bridges as well as a lively marina and plenty of delicious restaurants. Wander along its wide sandy bay, traditional cobbled town and fancy harbour, appreciating the sights as you go.

Party In Puerto Rico

Just along the coast you'll find the lively resort of Puerto Rico, which is the ideal place to head to if you’re looking for a fun-filled night out. There are plenty of pubs, bars and clubs to choose from with each of them hosting events including quizzes, discos and karaoke. Head to Arena Plaza, a 150-seater outdoor auditorium hosting unmissable flamenco shows and tribute bands.
