If you want an afternoon of action, head to the famous Sunny Beach, an 18km stretch full of accessories including football pitches and fairground games!

There are multiple entertainment options for children in the Sea Garden of Varna. There’s an observatory, an amphitheater, an astronomical complex, a tower on its territory, a planetarium, a zoo and a pool of water wheels.

It is crowned as one of the most beautiful parks in Bulgaria with stunning sea views and a sandy beach. Take a sunset stroll or bike ride through the 8km of greenery to the park’s pretty terrace, head to the Sea Casino or discover the Domes of Flora, famous for its annual international flower show.

Whether it’s classy piano bars, casual pubs or lively clubs you’re after, the resorts nightlife has it all. An evening stroll along the beachside road in Varna will present you with a plethora of party options, including firm favourites such as Horizont Club, Cubo Bar and AJ Party Club.

While Sunny Beach thrives with pulsating clubs, foam parties, beach hangouts and boat parties.

Varna is paradise for extreme sports lovers looking to jump, dive or swing off, well, anything they can! Adrenaline junkies often flock to the Black Sea coast where they can bungee jump 55 metres off the Asparuhov bridge and over the sea.

Those that can't muster up the courage to jump in three minutes forfeit their deposit!

The secret is out – Bulgaria is seriously beautiful! If you’re visiting in summer, you’ll be greeted by miles of sunflower fields from the Serbian border to the Black Sea, so keep your camera at the ready.

Take a day trip to the nearby city of Shumen, known for its natural beauty and famous fortress, where you can hike, bike and sightsee to your heart's content. For spectacular panoramic views, take a deep breath and climb up the steps to the mysterious Madara Rider sculpture. The route leads to the fortress and caves, which were supposedly inhabited in 4,000 BC.

Central Market, located on D-r Piskiuliev Street, is the largest market in Varna and the go-to place for fresh fruit and veg, fantastic fish and footwear and clothes.

Locals and tourists alike head to this bustling spot. If it's art you're after, catch a glimpse of some of the spectacular paintings and sculptures by local artists in Capricorn Gallery, step foot in this small shop and you're sure to find a unique momento.

Foodies can fill their bellies at Stariya Chinar, an upmarket Balkan restaurant selling traditional dishes including baked lamb and pork ribs, alongside an authentic ambience.

Even if your holiday plans don’t include much time for sightseeing there are a couple of key landmarks you must look out for on your travels.

In the centre of the city you'll find one of Varna's most famous monuments and one of the sites of the Archaeological Museum, The Roman Baths.

One of the best preserved architectural monuments of the Roman Age in Bulgaria, the magnificent bath is one of the largest in Europe.
