Cheap Holidays to Sunny Beach

A shining jewel unfurling along the sparkling Black Sea coast, Sunny Beach is considered Bulgaria's most beautiful corner. Blessed with a stunning 8km long Blue Flag beach, holidays in Sunny Beach offer the best of the Balkan's sun, sea and sand all in a vibrant environment. This modern holiday town is popular among families, backpackers and party hunters for its energetic nightlife scene, while Sunny Beach also has a great choice of pubs, clubs and bars alongside numerous open-air events and beach parties.

When you're not hitting the beach or enjoying the cocktails, you can visit the nearby UNESCO-listed town of Nessebar, enjoy fantastic food on the waterfront and make time for the markets and malls. Sunny Beach holidays are also great for fun-loving families, with the nearby Aquapark the ideal place to enjoy watersports, pedalos and a selection of day cruises.

July and August are the best months to visit Sunny Beach to enjoy its stunning scenery. Bourgas Airport at a distance of 27km is the nearest airport from which to reach Sunny Beach, while it takes only 30 minutes to reach the town centre. You can also fly to Varna Airport, which is around 100km from Sunny Beach. The town is well connected to all major tourist hotspots in the neighbourhood.

Soak Up Sunny Beach

Soak Up Sunny Beach

Sun, sea and sand! As the name indicates, Sunny Beach is a beach lover's paradise. Holidaymakers flock to this golden shoreline, strolling along the sands, trying their hand at whacky watersports, indulging in leisurely beachside lunches or even taking a sunset ride on horseback. Sunny Beach is the place to be, especially in the high season and you'll find it hard to tear yourself away from this pleasantly busy sandy stretch.

Have a Big Bulgarian Night Out

Have a Big Bulgarian Night Out

Start your evening with a bite to eat in the popular and lively Bubbles Beach Bar, but remember not to get carried away with the 2-for-1 cocktails and free shots as the night is just beginning! Head to Khan's Tent for an exciting evening of live music and entertainment, complete with a four course meal and bottle of wine, or explore the resort's clubbing scene as reliable reps from Party Crew or Party Patrol lead the way.

Sample Bulgarian cuisine

Sample Bulgarian cuisine

Around the waterfront you'll find plenty of restaurants offering a multitude of cuisines - from Asian to the Mediterranean and even Hawaiian. But if you're keen on embarking on a gastronomic adventure, try local delicacies like kavarma stew cooked in spices, multi-day roasted lamb, borek — a sesame and cheese based pastry and duran kebab.

Splash and Swim

Splash and Swim

Every holiday in Sunny Beach should involve at least one visit to the Action Aquapark, which is handily located on the main road. With a wide choice of slides including the Turbulence, Freefall, Multislide and Uphill Navigator, there are enough thrills and spills to keep even the biggest adrenalin junkie excited all day. If you'd prefer to make a smaller splash, embark on one of the resort's popular cruises and boat trips for family fun in the sun.

Getting Around Sunny Beach

🚌 Transport in the Sunny Beach Region

Fly to Bourgas airport. In resort, most people explore by foot as the hotel zone, beach and bars are all in close proximity. If you’re venturing further, taxis are widely available (look for regulated firms). There are good public transport links from the bus station to the airport and other places of interest. Most UK tourists opt for this rather than organising car hire as Bulgarian roads can sometimes be badly maintained.

Travelling by bus or carIt’s easy to arrange a hotel drop off from Bourgas airport, but if not, you’ll arrive at Sunny Beach’s bus station. From here you can also hop on a bus to other places including the nearby ancient town of Nessebar.   Car hire is available but most UK tourists decide to have a holiday from driving when in Bulgaria due to the unpredictable nature of some of the country’s roads. The resorts are also pretty compact and easily explored on foot. Taxis are cheap and easily available.
