Getting Around

An excellent bus service and plentiful taxis mean that it’s easy to get around the tourist resorts. If you want to head into the hills or explore some of Ibiza’s traditional villages then a hire car, moped or motorbike – or the extensive hiking trails - will get you to the heart of the island. Ferries also run along the coast, and between the Balearics, or you can hire a small boat to beach hop in style.

It may be a cliché, but there is so much to see and do in Ibiza that you may struggle to fit it all into one visit.

The historic old town of Ibiza, Dalt Vila, is a UNESCO World Heritage site that is perfect for a day out. The cobbled streets are filled with shops and sights to explore, so make a day of it and relax with a bite to eat afterwards overlooking the cathedral or castle.

The beaches of Ibiza remain a huge draw and are some of the best in the Med. Cala Comte, Cala d'Hort, and Las Salinas are just some of the gorgeous beaches you will find.

We could not mention the nightlife, could we? Ibiza is world-famous still with clubs like Pacha, Amnesia, and Ushuaïa attracting top DJs and thousands of visitors every year. Make sure you experience a daytime boat party too!

The island's famous Hippy Markets, such as Las Dalias and Punta Arabí, are a fantastic way to experience the island's bohemian spirit. Browse the stalls for unique crafts, clothing, and jewellery, and enjoy live music and performances.

Often overlooked, Ibiza has a rich and interesting history forged over thousands of years. Much of this history can be found today if you know where to look.

The first place to start is Dalt Vila - the UNESCO World Heritage site. Home to cathedrals, a castle, ancient walls and much more, this is as far away from the nightclubs as you can get.

Located near Dalt Vila, Necropolis del Puig des Molins is an ancient necropolis consists of over 3,000 tombs from the Phoenician, Punic, and Roman periods. The site also features a museum displaying artefacts and information about the burial practices and customs of the time.

The island's cuisine is also very underrated and offers a window into the island’s history and heritage. Traditional dishes like fish stew reflect the island's diverse cultural influences many of which have been forged over thousands of years.

Ibiza became a haven for artists, musicians, and counterculture enthusiasts in the 1960s and '70s. This bohemian influence can still be seen in the island's vibrant art scene, colourful markets, and laid-back atmosphere.
