Playa de Muro is renowned for having one of the most famous Blue Flag beaches in the Balearic Islands, situated on Majorca’s northeast coast. Close to the popular tourist area of Alcudia, this resort boasts fine golden sands, adventurous family fun parks, authentic towns, plus medieval squares in the enchanting capital of Palma just 15-minutes away.

Playa de Muro is home to the largest strip of sand on Majorca (as long as 6km) and is divided into four sections. This laid-back resort is a great option for family beach holidays, with the main beach boasting shallow, warm turquoise waters that are perfect for paddling. The area is well-served by tourist accommodation, with hotels and apartments of all budgets located within walking distance of the beach.

If you fancy a day trip, Playa de Muro holidays make for a great base with plenty to see and do throughout your stay. Golf lovers can tee off at the nearby Alcanada Golf Resort, while nature lovers can explore The S’Alfubera Natural Park, a beautiful stretch of natural wetlands great for bird watching and hiking. The Fundacion Yannick and Ben Jakober are a top draw for art enthusiasts, known for their collection of children’s portraits and eclectic animal sculptures. Alcudia and Palma are just 15-minutes away, complete with a marina, shops, bars and a medieval Old Town.

Pick Up Some Pi Amb Oli

Pa amb Oli, put simply, is slices of brown Majorcan bread rubbed with a raw garlic clove and half a Ramallet tomato produced locally with olive oil sprinkled on. Order a topping of your choice to compliment this delicious, tapas-friendly bite. Another simple but delicious starter is Pimientos de Padrón, peppers fried in olive oil with a side of Aioli – a foodie heaven!

Floridita Beach Bar on Alcudia’s famous beach, and Royal Beach Bar & Restaurant in the resort are a couple of stylish beach bars to visit if you’re wanting waterfront refreshments. With air-conditioning, live music and delicious cuisine and cocktail choices, there are many waiting along the coast to discover.

    Playa De Muro's Beaches

Three of the four beaches in Playa de Muro are Blue Flags and a favourite for families thanks to the shallow, clear waters. Divided into four sectors, guests have a choice of soaking up the sun near Port d’Alcudia with watersports, restaurants and bars, visiting the less busy Es Brac sector, or the even quieter stretch known as Es Comu – with unspoilt sand dunes and trees forming part of the S’Albufera Natural Park.

    Visit Traditional Majorcan Markets

Majorca has a lot of traditional weekly markets which sell everything from fresh vegetables and fruits, fish and meat and specialty cheese. If you want to experience the local culture, a visit will not disappoint. Try to get there early, as most markets are only open in the morning (from 9am to 1pm).
