Why go on holiday to one destination when you could visit two in the same trip? Multi centre holidays allow you to do just that.

But where should you go, after all sometimes settling on one destination to go on holiday to is difficult enough, let alone finding two! Well if you are looking for inspiration why not try a stunning multi centre holiday to the Maldives and Sri Lanka?!

Stunning Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka, previously known as Ceylon, is a country of contrasts ranging from vast tropical palm fringed sandy beaches, rolling greenery, waterfalls, exotic wildlife, lush tea plantations to striking historical monuments. In its recent history parts or all of Sri Lanka have been ruled by the Portuguese, Dutch and British. A national movement for political independence arose in the early 20th century, and in 1948, Ceylon became a dominion. This was succeeded by the republic named Sri Lanka in 1972. Today, Sri Lanka is popular on the tourist map and is home to diverse cultures, languages, and ethnicities.

Mesmerising Maldives

The nearby Maldives islands, whose name probably derive from Sanskrit meaning Necklace Island, offer you the tropical paradise that we all dream of. Whispering palms, white sands, shallow waters, over 70 different species of colourful corals, hundreds of different species of fish and other marine life including turtles, stingrays, lionfish, butterfly fish, reef sharks and octopus. This impressive underwater world offers you the most exciting snorkelling you will ever experience and is a scuba diver’s paradise. The Maldives is the holiday destination where you will completely relax and take in the chilled way of life.

Perfect for Multi Centre Holidays

Combining the two destinations is easily done and you get to choose which way round to do it. You can have a week of sightseeing and visiting all the places of interest in Sri Lanka followed by a week of relaxation in the Maldives or you can completely relax first and leave the active exploring of Sri Lanka second.

Well, not too active, apart from all the interesting historical sites and the lush greenery Sri Lanka has to offer, it has its own tropical island paradise beaches to intersperse between your visits to all the places of interest. Colombo, the largest city in Sri Lanka is packed with places of interest – most notably the Jami Ul-Alfar, or Red Mosque which is stunning to look at from the outside as well as the inside and is worth a visit. Further afield, Nuwara Eliya, with its lush tea plantations and rolling green hills cannot be missed on your visit.

The British brought tea to Sri Lanka during colonial times and it remains one of the largest producers of tea today. Visit a tea plantation or even a tea room in the area and enjoy a drink of freshly produced tea straight from the source. The ancient town of Galle Fort built by the Portuguese and later ruled by the Dutch and British, is bursting with ornate architecture from all influences, culture and history.

If you are feeling energetic during your stay, plan a visit to Sigiriya or Sinhagiri or Lion Rock, which is an ancient rock fortress located near the town of Dambulla. You can climb up to the top of the rock for the most panoramic views of continuous lush green hills and forests all around you. And if its wildlife you are after, Sri Lanka has over 26 National Parks to choose from where you can spot crocodiles, elephants, sloth bears, spotted deer and water buffalo as well as Sri Lanka's barking deer and the famous, elusive leopard.

These two amazing multi centre holiday destinations offer you a holiday of a lifetime – the only decision you need to make is which way round you visit them!
