We think that being able to relax on holiday and get a break from every day work stress is really important - which is why we were shocked to find out that 25% of people check their emails over the breakfast buffet and by the pool while on holiday, with 36% claiming their actions are due to fear of missing out on something important at work.
After recieving these results, we’re on a mission to ensure everyone makes the most of their breaks - whether you love strolling around a new city, or can be found firmly planted on a sunlounger at the beach. Last week we published part one of our “What does your holiday look like?” article, where we asked three UK bloggers some questions around their relationship with going on holiday, how they relax, and their recommendations for destinations that everyone should visit.
That means that this week it’s time for part two...
DO YOU EVER WORK WHILE YOU'RE ON HOLIDAY?
"I don't work when I'm on holiday. The whole point of going away is to relax, unwind and completely forget about work."
WHAT'S YOUR TOP TIP FOR RELAXING ON HOLIDAY?
"My favourite tip for relaxing while on holiday is to choose an activity that involves taking in the sights of your chosen destination, such as a walking tour or a boat ride. There’s nothing like being still and enjoying a beautiful view."
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE HOLIDAY DESTINATION?
"My favourite holiday destination is Barcelona. I went to Spain a few years ago and absolutely loved my time there."
We couldn't agree more with Kelle, Barcelona is a hot spot for those seeking variety - with a blend of balmy weather, sandy beaches, incredible city sights and some of the best food around (check out some of our favourite eateries here, if you don't believe us!).
DO YOU EVER WORK WHILE YOU'RE ON HOLIDAY?
"I've definitely been guilty of working whilst on holiday. It can be difficult to leave the office and switch off, particularly when workloads are high and you feel like you have too much to do. It's far too easy to check work emails, take a phone call, or work on a project whilst on holiday - even though you know you shouldn't!"
WHAT'S YOUR TOP TIP FOR RELAXING ON HOLIDAY?
"The biggest but simplest change I made was to delete the emails app off my phone before a trip. This meant I couldn't sneakily check my emails and start responding to work emails when I should be relaxing. The small extra step of re-downloading the email app generally makes me stop, think and resist the temptation to go into work mode."
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE HOLIDAY DESTINATION?
"There are so many incredible places across the world but my favourite destination at the moment is Italy. It's packed full of culture, fascinating history, glorious weather, opportunity for adventure - and of course, incredible food! Whatever you are looking for from your holiday, Italy is sure to have it, whether that's a short city break to Rome, a relaxing beach break on the Amalfi Coast, a romantic weekend in Venice or a history fuelled trip to Pompeii."
Want to discover this amazing destination but not sure where to start? We've broken it down for you with our must-see guide on where to visit in Italy - the best part is there's a resort to suit everyone, whether you want to soak up the sights in Rome, cruise along Lake Garda, boutique-hop in Milan or unwind on the gorgeous Amalfi Coast.

DO YOU EVER WORK WHILE YOU'RE ON HOLIDAY?
"Until I started my own business I never worked whilst I was on holiday. Now I have my business, I feel I need to keep a hand in but I tell people that I won't be available between certain dates and only deal with emergencies or urgent queries, and only ever via email."
WHAT'S YOUR TOP TIP FOR RELAXING ON HOLIDAY?
"My top tip for relaxing on holiday is to sleep as much as you need to. At home there's always the feeling that you ought to be doing this or dealing with that, but you can't when you are away so if you need a lie-in or an afternoon nap - do it!"
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE HOLIDAY DESTINATION?
"My favourite place in the world is New York City, but I wouldn't go there if I needed to relax. I love doing transatlantic cruises - lots of sea days and activities, but equally plenty of me time and opportunities to relax and chill."
