If you think holidays and health and fitness don’t go hand in hand, you obviously haven’t met these bloggers. Keeping fit while travelling is such a wonderful way to experience each destination - imagine soaking up the sights of Greece on a run, sampling some delicious and exotic new fruits in Thailand or having more energy to explore cities in Spain. But hey, don’t just take our word for it - hear it from these fitness travel bloggers who have been nominated for Best Health and Fitness Travel Blogger.

Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who’s the best health and fitness travel blogger of the all? We don’t know yet - but once our expert panel decides, the winner will be nominated to run for the British Travel Awards’ Best Blogger Award, sponsored by Teletext Holidays.

Why Should We Win?

We are gay travel bloggers Stefan and Sebastien. We’ve been travelling the world together for over a decade. One of the most important things we are passionate about alongside travelling is keeping fit and healthy, not only for our general wellbeing, but for our confidence. Keeping fit makes us feel stronger and is such a wonderful way to start each day.

Keeping fit whilst travelling has certainly proven to be a challenge so we have experimented widely with bodyweight exercises, always discovering new exercises to do together in public parks. Also, doing a run in a new city is a fantastic way to not only keep fit but get a general feel for the place. This is half of the battle of course. The other half is eating clean.

We love experimenting with food but always strive to maintain a balanced diet of fresh fruit, vegetables, unrefined carbs and protein from different sources beyond meat. Eating healthy when travelling is definitely exciting - for example, Asia has soooo many delicious ways to cook tofu, not to mention the abundance of exotic fruit to discover - mangosteen, pomelos, coconuts, papayas...

The most important thing is that we hope our experiences with keeping fit and healthy whilst travelling inspire others. We always get excited when we engage with our friends and followers over Facebook and Instagram about the different ways we all have been keeping fit - particularly during the global pandemic.

Our Proudest Achievements Over the Past Year

2020 has been a year where the word “unprecedented” has been overused to death! At the outset we saw our website traffic plummet from a record high of 10k visitors a day to around 55% of that and our income reached an all time low. We started getting very worried. We used the lockdown period to work hard on our website and focus on other areas beyond travel - namely fitness and recipes.

These are areas that have boomed massively as everyone has been locked in. Whilst we constantly hope for a time when we can all start travelling again safely, in the meantime we are extremely proud of the fact that we have managed to keep our website and Nomadic Boys brand afloat during the pandemic and deep economic downturn that is arising out of it.

Why Should I Win?

Paddle Pedal Pace combines my two passions - fitness and travel. I'm a triathlete and my training doesn't stop just because I'm on holiday! Whether it's a city break, beach holiday or work trip, I believe in keeping active and using running or cycling as a way to explore a new destination. I share my adventures in a variety of destinations including cycling holidays in Tenerife, running in Lisbon, swimming in Sweden and hiking in Crete.

I've worked with a range of tourist boards, hotel and hostel chains and brands on press trips and sponsored campaigns to showcase their offerings for active travellers. Since I started blogging in 2013, I've grown an audience of engaged followers who I believe enjoy reading my honest, personal and informative content. My blog has recently been redesigned to be more visually appealing and easy to navigate. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, my focus has switched to adventures closer to home and showing readers that staycations can still be active!

My Proudest Achievement Over the Past Year

I qualified to represent Great Britain at the European Age Group Championships in the middle-distance aquabike race. It was due to take place in Austria in June, but has been postponed to 2021.
