Missing the sun already and dreaming of a winter holiday to somewhere warm? We’ve put together a list of the best beaches in Tenerife to enjoy on your next Tenerife holiday. World famous for her beaches, Tenerife benefits from golden and white sands, black volcanic sands and mighty cliff faces that all have their share of water sport activities and general beach fun.
In today’s blog post we will recommend the four best beaches in Tenerife, as well as a popular and well priced hotel near each one so you can spend the full week (or two) of your holiday close to the water, enjoying the sand between your toes. Whether you’re looking for a family holiday or a romantic getaway with your sweetheart there is something below for every type of traveller.
1) Playa de Troya
Undoubtedly the most famous and popular beaches in Tenerife are in Playa de las Americas; it’s hard to believe that the resort features many man made beaches since the sands and fauna and flora are so beautiful. Not only that, Playa de las Americas is also #1 for attractions and bars and restaurants.
Playa de Troya is the beach that caters the best to children and families so head here with the kids. The beach is also a popular destination for sports lovers, especially those who like surfing and volleyball. There’s also plenty of space to just chill out, read a good book and relax on the loungers available for hire.
We recommend staying at the KN Columbus Aparthotel, from £169 per week, in the heart of Playa de las Americas.
2) Las Vistas
In the resort of Los Cristianos, Las Vistas is the best beach around. Nearly 1km in length and regarded by the locals as a better beach than the more famous Playa de Los Cristianos, Las Vistas is very popular - so arrive early. The beach is blessed with golden sand and you can hire sun loungers or partake in all varieties of water sports. It also has a long strip of bars and restaurants nearby that you can enjoy throughout the day.
We recommend staying in the HG Tenerife Sur Apartments, from £214 per week, in Los Cristianos..
3) Fanabe Beach
The jewel in Costa Adeje, Fanabe Beach is popular with locals and tourists alike. Take a swim in the pristine warm waters, relax with a refreshing beverage and enjoy the serenity of this popular yet tranquil stretch of beach. This is the quietest of the recommended beaches so far but still has nearby restaurants, bars and things to do, including a famous glass bottom boat tour that allows you to discover the creatures of the deep. With Blue Flag status, this is the cleanest of the popular beaches recommended and is great for families too.
We recommend staying at the GF Fanabe Hotel, from just £221 per week.
4) Playa de la Tejita
One of the largest natural beaches in Tenerife, Playa de la Tejita is situated near the kite-surfing paradise of El Médano on the island’s east coast. This windswept and rugged beach is certainly the least popular of the beaches mentioned so far but is actually the most beautiful, if a little isolated.
Relatively undiscovered by tourism, this nudist beach is your best bet if you are looking to get away from it all (especially clothes) and didn’t think that was possible on a busy tourist island like Tenerife.
We recommend staying at the four-star KN Hotel Arenas Del Mar Beach & Spa for £241 per week - it’s close to Playa de la Tejita and El Medano Beach.
