ROVE HEALTHCARE CITY

From the moment you step foot into the foyer of the trendy Rove Healthcare City Hotel and glance at the brightly coloured Instagram-friendly decor, you quickly realise this place isn’t like most other hotels in Dubai.

With a self-service approach, quirky art adorning the walls and its own hipster café to boot (armed with killer coffee), it’s easy to mistake this place for a stylish hotel in the middle of New York rather than the Middle East. Gazing out at the desert unfurling in the distance gives the game away though…

Indeed, with its brilliant service, a quality restaurant, games room and a much-needed outdoor swimming pool, Rove Healthcare City is redefining ‘affordable hotels’ in fine style. Whoever said you can’t do Dubai on the cheap needs to book into this place! Teletext Holidays sent Chloe Gunning and Macca Sherifi - aka renowned travel bloggers Wanderlust Chloe and An Adventurous World - to find out more...

WHERE IS THE ROVE HEALTHCARE CITY HOTEL LOCATED?

Located just 15 minutes from Dubai International Airport, the first highlight that attracts guests to Rove Healthcare City is its location. The Rove Healthcare City enjoys helpfully close proximity to the Old Town (where you can find the Dubai Museum, the spectacular gold souk and the spice souk), while the spectacular Burj Khalifia, the world’s tallest building, can be visited nearby too. Dubai's gorgeous golden sand beaches are also within easy reach, with the warm climes allowing for a pleasant dip in the Arabian Sea against the backdrop of the metropolis' spectacular modern skyline.

ROVE HEALTHCARE CITY HOTEL ROOMS

Rove Healthcare City Hotel caters for a large number of guests with its 286 guestrooms but does so by offering spacious, comfortable and stylish accommodation for a wide variety of people. With sumptuously large double beds and quirky décor that includes ‘travel notes’ plastered over the wall, there is a very homely feel to the place. Another neat touch is the abundance of plug sockets and USB chargers in the room, again appealing to the tech-heavy millennials.

Additionally, the modern bathroom is surprisingly big, so even if you’re only in the city for 24 hours or a lot longer, there’s plenty of space for single travellers and couples in the room. Tea and coffee are free (along with the hashtag-emblazoned coffee-to-go cups), as is a fresh bottle of water per person per day too.

THINGS TO DO AT ROVE HEALTHCARE CITY HOTEL

With scorching temperatures rising upwards of 40+ degrees outside, Rove Healthcare City Hotel offers refuge with its outdoor pool and sunloungers beckoning you to sit back, relax and unwind. Unusually for what is classified as a 3 Star hotel, the Rove Healthcare City Hotel also comes with a well-equipped gym and a games room including a PS4 and old-school Pac-Man if you’ve got an hour to kill.

Rovers (as the staff call themselves) go out of their way to ensure you’re taken care of and they’re full of suggestions on things to do while in the city. Other services include a shuttle bus either down to the beach or the Dubai Mall. They also have a 24-hour mini-market stocked with everything you could need and very large storage lockers.

FOOD & DRINK AT ROVE HEALTHCARE CITY HOTEL

They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day and The Daily (the restaurant at Rove Healthcare City) certainly knows it. Not only do they have a huge breakfast buffet with the usual cakes, cereals, fruits and yoghurts, they also have an a la carte menu that changes daily included in the price of stay.

With baked eggs, breakfast burritos, shakshuka and even a spicy curry to choose from, the food here tastes as good as it looks. Also, the coffee gets a special shout out here as being pretty special. The Daily is armed to the teeth with power-points and USB sockets, so if you’re looking for a work space then this is the place for you. Breakfast is served from 6:30am till 10:30am.

ROVE HEALTHCARE CITY HOTEL PRICES

At only £46 per night including breakfast, one of the best features of the Rove Healthcare City was simply how affordable it is. Throw in a late checkout at 2pm, free Wi-Fi, a free shuttle service and a swimming pool and it represents extremely good value for money.

When I first booked the Rove Healthcare City I was expecting it to be like any other hotel near to an airport… simply a place to crash out for the night. However, I found their self-service style approach to ‘affordable hotels’ both convenient and clever, and I actually spent a lot longer in the hotel than I initially planned to. Maybe that’s because I was too busy Instagramming everything though!

WHY YOU SHOULD STAY AT ROVE HEALTHCARE CITY HOTEL

As a travel blogger often travelling through a city without much time on my hands I look for two things in a hotel – cost and location. Arriving very late into Dubai, I didn’t want to spend more than an hour in traffic making my way down to the Palm so it's often convenient for me to book hotels near to the airport – albeit one that doesn’t simply skimp on the quality.

With this in mind, Rove Healthcare City Hotel offers a wonderful blend of everything I needed without breaking the bank. Furthermore, with its eclectic mix of 21st century design and popular bric-a-brac just begging to be snapped, this was the perfect introduction for a Dubai holiday.
