Quarantine is lifted – Cyprus Holidays 2020

The air corridors are here and Cyprus Holidays are open to us Brits again from July 10th. The Island has been busily working to tempt us Brits back into booking now for weeks but with quarantine officially lifted we can visit Cyprus and not have to isolate home or away.

To celebrate, we’ve put together a guide to the four most popular destinations on the Island of Cyprus, Larnaca, Ayia Napa, Limassol and Paphos with holidays from as little as £199.

Ayia Napa – More than just a party town?

Ayia Napa is a party resort, there’s no denying it. Beating music, jumpin’ clubs and blissed out bars, there’s something for everyone to enjoy once day turns to night in Cyprus’ party capital. Ayia Napa is a great place for groups and young couples to holiday in 2020.

However, Ayia Napa, like Ibiza, has its cultural side too. There’s a range of sandy beaches for a touch of R&R. Head off to Pantachou Beach and stroll along Cyprus’ sandy shores or dip your toe into the Mediterranean waters. There’s lots of beaches to choose from too. Head to famous Konnos Beach for jet skiing and paragliding or Nissi Beach for its amazing clear waters.

Come night time, begin your night at buzzing Makronissos Beach which literally parties till dawn. During the summer, live performers and DJs take the stage and keep the beats rolling. If the club scene suits you better, head along to one of the city’s top club nights.

Paphos – A holiday fit for a king.

Cyprus is a history buff’s ultimate holiday and Paphos is the king.

On the south coast of Cyprus, Paphos is home to a multitude of ancient ruins. From ancient fortresses and spooky tombs to Greco theatres and Greek mythological sites, there’s a mind-blowing amount to be enjoyed in the environs of Paphos. Paphos’ history dates back to the Neolithic and it was also the base of the cult of Aphrodite, the goddess of beauty, passion and love.

Paphos is also known for its beautiful beaches. Head down to idyllic Coral Bay after geeking out on history and take a splash in the deep blue waters of the bay. Paphos’ major sites are all dotted along its coastline so easily accessible by car. The coastal pathways and historical gems make for a fascinating day trip, head out to Kato Paphos, the Tombs of the Kings and enjoy a day trip to this UNESCO site.

Larnaca – Great Culture, Better Beaches

Larnaca holidays offer something for everyone. A treasure trove of culture, architectural sites and natural beauty – a Larnaca holiday will suit each member of the family.

Enjoy the clear waters at Finikoudes Beach, the ideal spot for topping up that tan. Lay back on the golden sand and soak up the sunshine. Once you’re bronzed and primed for the holiday, you can start to explore Larnaca. Start off at the Byzantine Church of Saint Lazurus, then move along in the afternoon to the Hala Sultan Tekke mosque situated on the lakefront and spend the evening overlooking thefamous  Kamares Aqueduct.

Hotels in Larnaca are especially good value, we recommend the Crown Resort Henipa in Larnca Bay offering holidays from just £210pp

Limassol – City and Beach Holiday combo

Limassol is Cyprus’ 2nd largest city but with a beachfront location you can enjoy culture, nightlife and the beach in one holiday.

Although a modern city in many ways, there is history to be found in Limassol. The old harbour and castle are a great place to catch up on some culture. The castle was rebuilt in 1590 under the rule of the Ottomans and is the #1 attraction in the city.

Limassol’s Archaeological Museum traces the city through the Neolithic to the present day and is one of the best museums on the Island.

The island of Cyprus is the perfect destination for resort hopping, nightlife, culture, history as well as beaches and food and drink. So dust off those quarantine blues and book a trip to Cyprus in Summer 2020.
