WHAT ARE MICRO HOLIDAYS?

A micro holiday really is as the name suggests, a small-scale break designed to give you just that – a break. From charming city breaks to weekend holidays in a sunny setting, the micro holiday is a growing trend with heaps of benefits.

Whilst many of us are unlikely to turn down a two-week break, holidays don’t have to be far-flung, or for a long period time to have a positive impact on our wellbeing and mindset. Whether you need a digital detox, or want to switch off and spend some quality time with a loved one, a micro holiday is just the ticket.

Not forgetting that a more curated travel itinerary for the year will see you experience more places in a shorter time frame, as smaller breaks are often more affordable and easier to save for. You may even choose to forego your typical two-week break and opt for a few micro holidays instead, meaning you’ll always have something to look forward to.

VENICE, ITALY

In the northeast of Italy sits Venice, one of the most iconic cities in the world and home to a maze of canals. Favoured by couples in particular, Venice has a certain romance that sees travellers flock from all over to experience the mesmerising city.

Experience the pretty canals by gondola before strolling through St Marks Square to soak up the impressive Venetian surroundings. Once the sun sets, catch a cocktail in the famous II Caffe Rosso before treating your taste buds to an authentic Italian dish.

PAPHOS, CYPRUS

Ready for a dose of sun, sea and sand? Say hello to Paphos - the perfect place for a cheap summertime break for families and couples. With serene Blue Flag beaches like Coral Bay and plenty of activities like snorkelling and horse riding on offer, there’s something for everyone to enjoy here.

MAJORCA, BALEARIC ISLANDS

For sun-seekers in need of a short-haul trip to top up their tan, Majorca is an idyllic island waiting to welcome tourists. Visit between June and August to catch the climate at its best and whisk yourself away to this Mediterranean paradise.

DUBLIN, IRELAND

Looking for a fun-filled weekend away? Dublin is a treasure trove for travellers searching for somewhere a little closer to home but still full of atmosphere. Boasting world-famous nightlife and also the home of Guinness, the Irish city is lively, inviting and the perfect place to let your hair down for a couple of nights.

With a thriving shopping scene and an array of restaurant and bars too, Dublin is popular with young couples and groups of friends looking for a quick escape. It’s also only a short drive away from the beach so you really do get the best of both worlds if you’re also looking for a blast of sea air.
