7 LONG HAUL DESTINATIONS FOR YOUR BUCKET LIST

2020 is set to offer a whole host of exciting new travel opportunities. In recent years, it has become much more affordable to go on the long haul holidays (and even luxury Multicentre holidays) you may have only dreamed of before. If you’re planning an adventure next year with your friends and family, then this blog post will help you decide which destination you should tick off of your travel bucket list first.

DUBAI

Dubai is the world’s futuristic playground. A city carved out of the desert, its location is as surprising as its contents. With sky-tickling buildings, sci-fi-esque trains and lavish hotels on every corner, it’s not hard to see why Dubai attracts so many visitors each year. During the day you can easily get lost inside the abundance of opulent shopping centres. Shopping in Dubai is a hobby itself, as these centres also include indoor ski slopes, huge aquariums and botanical gardens.

Come night, there’s a form of entertainment for just about every taste. Treat yourself to evening drinks on a glamorous rooftop bar, head to an open-air concert or venture to a cloudy shisha bar.

OUR FAVOURITE DUBAI HOTELS

Dubai holidays are more affordable than ever before. The city is crawling with an abundance of high-end yet low-cost hotels where you can stay, all with their own perks and quirks.

If you’re looking to make the most of your time in Dubai’s iconic artificial archipelago, the Palm Jumeirah, then the 5-star Dukes the Palm Hotel or the Five Palm Jumeirah Dubai are great choices for you.

If you’re looking for a location that is a little closer to Dubai’s central entertainment, then the Grand Hyatt is a perfect holiday base. If you’re after something relaxing to do during your spare time, the hotel has a great range of restaurants and bars, as well as a spa, tennis court and swimming pool.

For those who are seeking a little more peace and relaxation during their Dubai experience, then the DoubleTree is the hotel for you. It’s a mere stroll from beautiful beaches, as well as shopping centres, water parks and golf courses.

If views are what you’re after, then the Rixos Bab Al Bahr and the Cove Rotana Resort may be up your street. Overlooking the white sands of Marjan Island, both of these hotels are located conveniently, as well as ideal spots for those who wish to spend their budget on shopping and entertainment as opposed to accommodation.

If you want a glimpse of a futuristic city, then you can’t miss a trip to the larger-than-life Dubai.

ORLANDO

Holidays to Orlando are an unforgettable thrill for the whole family. The zany, outlandish restaurants and rich performing arts scene offer a full-blown entertainment experience for the adults as well as the kids.

The crown jewel of Orlando’s tourist scene is, of course, Disney World. This fully-immersive and renowned theme park is one of the most innovative tourism spots in America. Combine that with a trip to Universal Orlando and the Kennedy Space Center and you have a family holiday that you’ll remember for a long time.

THAILAND

Once upon a time holidays to Thailand would have cost an arm and a leg. However, today it is more accessible than ever. A trip to Thailand is essential for any foodie with a taste for spice and tang. The seafood market stalls of Bangkok are a must-visit for those who follow their taste buds.

If you’re drawn to the ocean, you can choose between snorkelling, whale watching, kiteboarding and sunbathing next to Thailand’s crystal waters. If you like late nights, the full moon parties of Ko Phi Phi and pumping clubs of Bangkok will keep you entertained until the early hours of the morning.

If you’re looking for a little zen, then touring the range of Buddhist temples and underground shrines will leave you spiritually nourished.

BARBADOS

If you’re looking for a little zen, then touring the range of Buddhist temples and underground shrines will leave you spiritually nourished.

When you think of Barbados holidays, you probably think of pristine, white-sand beaches, and although you could happily spend your whole holiday there, there is much more to Barbados than just sand between your toes. The UNESCO World Heritage Site of historic Bridgetown, the vibrant Caribbean nightlife and the unique architecture are all great reasons to visit Barbados.

INDIA

India is a melting pot of diversity. On a holiday to India, you’ll experience a mix of ethnicities, traditions and religions. For those with a taste for the outdoors, India is the whole package. Experience the natural beauty of the Himalayas or stroll through the tranquil pine forests.

Of course, the food is one of its tastiest features; the range of dishes, cooking methods and spices will keep you and your tongue more than happy. As India contains a mix of Sikhs, Buddhist, Jains and Christians, the range of stunning spiritual architecture and religious celebrations are second to none. The iconic Taj Mahal is a testament to this.

THE MALDIVES

Holidays to the Maldives are world renowned, and for good reason. You can lounge on the pristine beaches and stay in stilted huts that stretch out over the azure sea. You can almost always guarantee a fairly secluded trip, as many previously inaccessible islands have only become open to tourism over the past 10 years.

The Maldives are perhaps best known for their marine life, and that’s what makes them a mecca for scuba divers and snorkellers alike. The sea here is known as the world’s underwater garden; it’s not uncommon to see clownfish, dolphins and possibly even the world’s largest fish, the whale shark.

JAMAICA

Jamaica has a world-famous personality. It’s well known for its laid-back culture and soulful rhythms; you’ll get into the Jamaican groove as soon as you set foot on the island. Along with the bustling capital city of Kingston and beautiful Caribbean coastline, Jamaica has vast stretches of forests, tumbling waterfalls and flowing rivers.

The Jamaican government has invested millions into ensuring that tourists are catered to, meaning holidays to Jamaica are custom built for fun. Jamaica is also a treat for the taste buds. From jerk chicken to lobster, there’s a dish for all palates.
