MARC FOSH

Housed in the modern surroundings of the 17th century Hotel Convent de la Missió in the old town of Palma, Marc Fosh scores highly in the fine-dining category. Named after Michelin-starred chef Marc Fosh, this superb restaurant serves amazing Mediterranean cuisine with a focus on clean flavours and seasonal ingredients. The menu transforms the best local produce into exotic dishes including fillet of sea bream with Sóller prawns, chervil and licorice, and leg of lamb with anchovy, saffron and red-pepper chlorophyll. ES GUIX

Nestled in an ancient hunting lodge within the Serra de Tramuntana mountains is Es Guix, the perfect spot if you're seeking time-out. The menu features all the traditional dishes you'd expect, including firm favourite Arròs Brut - a rice dish made with chicken, rabbit and local sausages, perfectly paired with good range of Majorcan wines. There are shaded terraces set into the hillside that overlook a rock pool too, setting the scene for alfresco meals as the sun sets - a must-visit during your summer holidays

CELLER SA PREMSA

Established in 1958, traditional Celler Sa Premsa is a great representation of classic Majorcan cuisine including tombet (a vegetable dish of layered potatoes, red peppers and aubergines), and paletilla de cordero (a shoulder of roasted suckling lamb served with grilled diced potatoes). Better still, one of the finest things about this aptly named restaurant is its well-kept cellar, stocked with a wide variety of local wines you simply have to try.

CAFÉ LA LONJA

This classy café has a modern décor with marble top tables, beautiful mirrors and art-deco tulips. Located just off Plaça de Sa Llotja in Palma, Café La Lonja has a young vibe that goes well with the style of the place. In the winter, it's an inviting spot for hot chocolate seekers while in the summer months, the venue is perfect for sipping cool cocktails on the terrace in front of the Llotja. You'll find plenty of tasty snacks on the specials board, including hot Garrotines, salad of tomato, avocado and Cabrales cheese, fluffy quiche, tapas of squid or mushrooms, truffles of figs and walnuts, sweet crepes and more - so be sure to have your appetite in tow!

SANTI TAURA

Located at the heart of the island in a small town called Lloseta is Santi Taura, one of Majorca's must-try restaurants. The popular hangout is renowned for its unique menu which changes on a weekly basis, so you'll be surprised by its spectacular dishes featuring fish, meats and delicate desserts every time you visit. Be sure to book a table before heading out to dinner here though, as tables get snapped up pretty quickly at this sophisticated spot. 

ZARANDA SA TORRE

Crowned with two Michelin stars, Zaranda is a fantastic fine dining spot that may be pricey but is a top pick fro special occassions. After originally opening in Madrid, the restaurant later moved to Majorca and when the Castell Son Claret Hotel opened near Es Capdellà, Zaranda found a new home. With a gorgeous terrace for al fresco dining, the restaurant offers four different tasting menus each featuring creations by chef Fernando Pérez Arellano. Better still, the wine list is a weighty tome filled with international wines like Golós Blanc by Miquel Gelabert and Artigas 2013 from Priorat.

A new addition to Palma’s tapas café scene, La Casa Gallega has already established itself as a firm favourite among locals and tourists. A charming place with a laid-back atmosphere, where you can enjoy excellent tapas inspired by the cuisine of Galicia. The most popular choices are the seafood tapas such as the grilled Galician octopus, the grilled razor fish, and the Galician style oysters. And for small bites, the pintxos – small skewered bites of fresh bread with a variety of toppings – is certainly a worth try.
