On the west coast, you’ll find the popular area of Dalaman, where soft sands and historic sites are ten a penny. Wander the pretty town of Fethiye, try some of the watersports in Icmeler or enjoy the buzz of Marmaris. Alternatively, head to the famous Blue Lagoon at Olu Deniz for amazing views and paragliding opportunities.
Sitting on the Aegean Coast, with Greece in the distance, is Izmir; a province that brings together amazing beaches and brilliant bars in resorts like Kusadasi, to create idyllic holiday spots. The spectacular ancient city of Ephesus is within touching distance too – perfect for history buffs with a hunger to explore.
Also known as the Turkish Riviera, the Antalya region, including Side, Belek, Lara Beach and Alanya, can be found on the southwest coast of Turkey. It’s home to more soft sandy beaches than you could possibly need, as well as great nightspots, golf, shopping and a bucket load of history, with the Temple of Apollo nearby.
With some lively resorts to choose from, including Gumbet and Altinkum, and fantastic beaches where you can laze away the hours as you soak up the sun’s rays, Bodrum is a popular area of Turkey for good reason. The city of Bodrum is also well worth a visit, with a fantastic castle sitting in the harbour waiting to be explored.
