Great Places to Visit

Whether you’d love to explore the historic city of Istanbul, or head up into the mountains for an off-road adventure - or you just want relax on a beach - Turkey has a holiday that’s perfect for you.

Diverse Dalaman

On the west coast, you’ll find the popular area of Dalaman, where soft sands and historic sites are ten a penny. Wander the pretty town of Fethiye, try some of the watersports in Icmeler or enjoy the buzz of Marmaris. Alternatively, head to the famous Blue Lagoon at Olu Deniz for amazing views and paragliding opportunities.

Invigorating Izmir

Sitting on the Aegean Coast, with Greece in the distance, is Izmir; a province that brings together amazing beaches and brilliant bars in resorts like Kusadasi, to create idyllic holiday spots. The spectacular ancient city of Ephesus is within touching distance too – perfect for history buffs with a hunger to explore.

Amazing Antalya

Also known as the Turkish Riviera, the Antalya region, including Side, Belek, Lara Beach and Alanya, can be found on the southwest coast of Turkey. It’s home to more soft sandy beaches than you could possibly need, as well as great nightspots, golf, shopping and a bucket load of history, with the Temple of Apollo nearby.

Buzzing Bodrum

With some lively resorts to choose from, including Gumbet and Altinkum, and fantastic beaches where you can laze away the hours as you soak up the sun’s rays, Bodrum is a popular area of Turkey for good reason. The city of Bodrum is also well worth a visit, with a fantastic castle sitting in the harbour waiting to be explored.

Getting Around

Public transport covers most of Turkey, so it should be fairly easy to get where you need to go. Alternatively, car hire is feasible and can offer great value for money, but roads can be hectic and the Highway Code is often ignored. Trains and buses are available if you’re planning a long distance trip, while the network of dolmus minibuses is popular for getting around towns and resorts. Taxis are also plentiful.

By Bus

Dolmuses offer a casual bus service in most of the popular towns and resorts. They’re a fun and authentic way of exploring, but note that dolmus literally means ‘stuffed’, so be prepared to cram onto these minivans!

By Car

If you shop around, you’ll be able to arrange car hire cheaply. However, only confident drivers should consider it, because the roads, traffic and other drivers can sometimes leave a lot to be desired!
