Great Places to Visit

From the charming cities to the unspoilt Beskid Mountains and Baltic beaches, Poland is a beautiful and fascinating country that begs to be explored.

Discover the Historic Cities

The major cities are a great place to start your Polish adventure. Many sites were bombed heavily during the war, but the rebuilding process has added to their charm. Warsaw has an atmospheric old town with a Royal Route that can take you via the notable landmarks, and Krakow’s old town is considered to be the culture capital.

Be Humbled at Auschwitz

As one of the most thought-provoking and emotional World Heritage sites to exist, a visit to Auschwitz is a must. As you take a tour of this WW2 concentration camp, you will be left with an ever-lasting impression. Take your time to remember what people went through due to the awful Holocaust and Nazi regime.

Get Closer to Nature

Poland boasts a huge number of National Parks – 23, to be exact. Take some time to explore these areas of vast natural beauty and immerse yourself in the breathtaking scenery. Bialowieza National Park is a World Heritage site due to the remains of a primeval forest, while Bieszczady National Park is a perfect spot for hikers.

Tour the Castles

Amongst the swathes of picture-perfect countryside, you’ll find a smattering of castles and monuments to discover, which will help you to appreciate the country’s heritage. Highlights include the gothic Wawel Castle in Krakow and the stunning 15th century Malbork Castle situated in its namesake town in the north of the country.

Getting Around

Taxis are easily found within towns and city centres, and are fairly inexpensive. Hiring a bicycle is also very feasible, especially as most of Poland is very flat, with cycle lanes in Warsaw and Krakow. There is an excellent bus network available that links villages and towns with the bustling cities, while InterCity trains offer a more comfortable service if travelling over longer distances.

By Bus

Poland’s comprehensive bus service is a reliable and comfortable way of getting around at very little cost. Even the smallest villages are linked, and the excellent service is very convenient for locals and visitors alike.

By Car

Driving in Poland can be a challenge at times - especially on country roads at night-time, so be careful. If you do choose to drive, you have to be a minimum of 21 (sometimes 25) and should keep to the right.
