The beautiful cenotes (natural swimming holes) that can be found dotted around the Yucatan Peninsula are out of this world, and perfect for exploring. It’s a jungle-themed eatery that dishes up some real local dishes; some of which are a little adventurous - tacos with ant’s eggs and grasshoppers, anyone?
Hug a Monkey at Jungle Place
If you keep going past Akumal, you will find the spider monkey sanctuary which is an incredibly popular place for tourists, so be sure to book in advance! Here, you will be able to learn more about this incredible species, who are well looked after in their native jungle. They’re super friendly too, so expect plenty of cuddles!
Day Trip to Tulum
As Mayan ruins go, the ones in Tulum are some of the luckiest when it comes to their setting. They are perched on cliffs, right on the coast, overlooking the gorgeous turquoise Caribbean Sea, and are incredibly well preserved. A day trip here doesn’t just mean exploring the Mayan history, but enjoying the fab beach too!
