Great Things to Do

As one of the most popular resorts on the Italian coast, Sorrento is packed with things to do, from the city centre and harbour, to the countryside beyond.

Shop for Delights in the Via San Cesareo

A leisurely stroll down this beautiful street will allow you to pick up some mouth-watering morsels to take home with you (if you can hold on to them that long, without eating them!). Walnuts, olive oil and limoncello are very popular buys here, and a perfect reflection of the local area. There are handicrafts available, too.

Sip Limoncello at a Terrace Bar

Sorrento, and the surrounding area, is famous for its production of the sweet citrus liqueur, Limoncello. Made from the zest of Sorrento lemons, it is a perfect treat for an after-dinner digestif. Grab a table at one of the bars or cafes in the Piazza Tasso and watch the world go by as you sip this tasty and refreshing drink.

Kick Back on the Beach

While the centre of Sorrento is high up in the cliffs, the beaches beneath the resort are a popular spot for locals and tourists alike. It’s a steep, but pleasant, descent, but once you’re at the bottom, you can enjoy beaches like Leonelli’s Beach for as long as you like. The pretty Marina Piccola is also worth a visit.

Tour the Town by Horse and Carriage

If you head to the Piazzo Tasso, you will see plenty of horse-drawn carriages, waiting to take you on a pleasant ride around the town so that you can soak up the beautiful sights in a traditional way. It’s a perfect option if you’d like a romantic ride for two, especially as the sun is setting beyond the horizon.

Getting Around

If you’re in no rush to be anywhere, a leisurely stroll from one end of the resort to the other is the best way of soaking up the Sorrento sights. There is a great bus service, and taxis are also plentiful. Car, scooter and bicycle hire are all available in the area if you want the freedom to explore off the beaten track, and there’s a lift that can take you from the town centre to the beach and harbour.

By Bus

There are four bus lines that service the resort of Sorrento, which usually begin early morning and offer a frequent service. Tickets can be bought from vending machines, or once onboard.

By Car

Car hire is possible in and around Sorrento, and offers holidaymakers the independence they need to explore the Neapolitan Riviera, the Amalfi Coast and beyond. Drive on the right hand side.
