Great Things to Do
As one of the most popular resorts on the Italian coast, Sorrento is packed with things to do, from the city centre and harbour, to the countryside beyond.
Shop for Delights in the Via San Cesareo
A leisurely stroll down this beautiful street will allow you to pick up some mouth-watering morsels to take home with you (if you can hold on to them that long, without eating them!). Walnuts, olive oil and limoncello are very popular buys here, and a perfect reflection of the local area. There are handicrafts available, too.
Sip Limoncello at a Terrace Bar
Sorrento, and the surrounding area, is famous for its production of the sweet citrus liqueur, Limoncello. Made from the zest of Sorrento lemons, it is a perfect treat for an after-dinner digestif. Grab a table at one of the bars or cafes in the Piazza Tasso and watch the world go by as you sip this tasty and refreshing drink.
Kick Back on the Beach
While the centre of Sorrento is high up in the cliffs, the beaches beneath the resort are a popular spot for locals and tourists alike. It’s a steep, but pleasant, descent, but once you’re at the bottom, you can enjoy beaches like Leonelli’s Beach for as long as you like. The pretty Marina Piccola is also worth a visit.
Tour the Town by Horse and Carriage
If you head to the Piazzo Tasso, you will see plenty of horse-drawn carriages, waiting to take you on a pleasant ride around the town so that you can soak up the beautiful sights in a traditional way. It’s a perfect option if you’d like a romantic ride for two, especially as the sun is setting beyond the horizon.
