Immediately after Donald Trump lost the presidential vote, we saw searches for US destinations soar as many customers reconsidered their holiday plans in light of the election result.

Comparing the 9 day post-election period to the 9 day pre-election period, we saw a massive uplift in families searching for Florida-based breaks with a 197% hike in searches for holidays to Florida including DisneyWorld.

What was more surprising was the uplift in Miami, traditionally a gay friendly, young couples destination which saw a 508% increase in search volume after the Biden win.

Searches for city breaks also showed massive gains with an increased 490% additional search volume for New York and 269% for Las Vegas with early-mid 2021 departures favoured.

Our MD, Wayne Perks, noted that: “All of our US destinations are seeing a lot of interest. The timing of the additional interest seems to correlate to that of the Presidential Election, so we can only assume that Joe Biden, with his more progressive Democratic viewpoints, is being perceived as creating a destination that more welcoming and inclusive for UK holidaymakers.  We are seeing a massive increase in families looking to book resorts in Florida for their Summer holidays, and also for our most popular city breaks.”
