We have just returned from our stay in Ierapetra at Tylissos Beach Hotel, and honestly, it felt like stepping back into the 90s , when life was slower, happier, and full of genuine care.
The staff were absolutely incredible. Especially Veronika, and also the lovely lady in the restaurant (apologies, I don’t remember her name) together with, I believe, her husband. They made us feel less like guests and more like part of their family. That kind of warmth is rare and unforgettable.
Everything about this hotel was beautiful — the atmosphere, the kindness, the food, the cleanliness, the room service… everything was simply outstanding from the first moment to the last.
This is not just a hotel, it’s a place where you can truly pause, breathe, and remember how beautiful life can feel.
We will definitely be coming back. Thank you for such a wonderful experience.

We had a wonderful experience at Tylissos Beach Hotel. We were very pleased with the service, the delicious food, the beautiful view, and the overall atmosphere of the hotel. The cocktails were also excellent, and we really enjoyed the great service provided by the bar staff.

We truly appreciate the hard work and dedication of all the employees, who always did their best to make our stay enjoyable. I would especially like to mention Veronica, who was very kind and friendly. My girlfriend really liked her, and they built a very nice connection during our stay.

Personally, my favorite member of the restaurant staff was Angelos, who was always very welcoming and approachable with me. Of course, everyone at the hotel did an excellent job, and we would like to thank the entire team for their effort, kindness, and professionalism.

We had a memorable stay at Tylissos Beach Hotel and we are grateful for everything they did for us. We would gladly recommend this hotel to others.

My husband and I spent a week at this hotel. Overall rating: 8/10. The journey from the airport took two hours, and we had to transfer from the coach to a car along the way. Upon arrival, we were greeted by smiling staff. This is the greatest asset of this place: everyone is smiling, friendly, and eager to help. There's a very family atmosphere, and special thanks to Rania, a very warm and welcoming person. The hotel has been renovated, the room is nice, the pool—there's really nothing to complain about. The food is very tasty—Greek. The sweets were delicious; it was impossible to control ourselves! However, a few things require attention: Needing peace and quiet, we chose an adults-only hotel. What good is that if the hotel is for adults, but the beach isn't? Imagine our surprise when we discovered that the adults' area was on one side, and on the other, someone from outside the hotel had booked a sunbed with a small child. After all, everyone was using the beach and sunbeds, and suddenly, children appeared. The hotel doesn't provide bottled water; upon entering the room, we were given two 0.5-liter bottles, and that was it. Of course, you can drink water from the available dispensers or buy one 1.5-liter bottle from the shop downstairs for 2 euros. You can't refill bottles from the dispensers. We ended up buying two cases of water from the shop and lugging it to our room. Water is available on tables in the dining room. Another issue is beach towels; a 15-euro deposit is not a problem, but if you need to replace them during your stay, it costs 3 euros. There's no beach bar (although it was included in the package price); all drinks had to be brought from the main bar in the building. To sum up, it's a nice place, a great holiday, but we won't be returning.

As a couple staying 7 days (all inclusive), we unfortunately discovered several “unspoken rules” and had a number of very poor experiences:
1) All-inclusive details (water/tea-coffee)
The water in the room is not included in the all-inclusive package.
We were told we would need to bring our own bottle if we wanted to drink the tea/coffee provided in the room.
This was explained by Eirini at reception, who also came across as unpleasant with guests (other staff were generally courteous).

2) Room condition on arrival
On check-in we found multiple issues, including:
TV not working
Safe not working
No water in the room
Bathroom water not available at times
Wake-up alarms not fulfilled
No shampoo/conditioner provided

3) Unsafe/incorrect access + accusation incident
An electrician entered our room without permission while my partner was asleep and not properly dressed.
We immediately escalated it at reception, where we met Eirini. Instead of handling it responsibly, she falsely accused us of smoking (we are strict non-smokers).
We found her behaviour disrespectful—speaking/laughing with colleagues nearby instead of addressing the serious issue.
Even after another colleague told her she was wrong, she continued to avoid the conversation and did not offer apologies.

4) Tourist tax charged incorrectly (we believe)
They charge €10/day tourist tax, but the official government info for Crete indicates €6/day for 4-star, and €10/day only for 5-star.
We felt we were overcharged based on this.

5) Activities chart feels “name only”
The activity schedule didn’t reflect real events.
There were only a couple of volunteers offering basic verbal guess games.
When we asked about volleyball, we were told it was “not working”.

6) Drinks quality (all inclusive)
Drinks were disappointing: cola syrup, and alcohol/beer/wine that often tasted watery with weird flavour.

7) Beach bar issues + inconvenient/wrong setup
The beach bar was frequently closed despite being advertised.
This forced us to walk across a busy road to the main bar to get drinks, and then carry them back across the road.
The bartender would open the beach bar window and then tell us to go to the main bar and he would bring/hand over drinks for you to take back.

8) Unsafe/irritating path near the pool
The route to the pool includes an open chimney where kitchen waste blows straight onto guests’ faces and clothes.
There’s no reasonable alternative path, so you have to pass it.

Good things about the property
1) Food
The food is excellent—very tasty Mediterranean dishes every day.
We were happy with the meals throughout our stay.
Special mention: Rania and Angelicos were amazing—friendly, professional, and always welcoming.
If any stars exist in this review, it’s mainly for them.

2) Location (only good with a car)
Works well if you have a car—we enjoyed nearby villages, views, and sunsets.
Without transport, it’s less convenient; evening walks to town felt unsafe due to traffic and rubbish along the roadside.

3) Pool experience
Pool is good, but the property is busy, so loungers can be limited (usually only available early).
Beach loungers are behind charge kiosks, which can restrict the view.

4) Entertainment not as advertised
They claim chef cooking views and DJ evenings, but what we experienced didn’t match.
Instead of proper music/DJ nights, there were moments that felt “odd” compared to what nearby options offer (e.g., Petra Mare).

5) Voluilisima beach
Beach is a great spot, though it’s much harder if you want to drink (since driving is needed).

Overall: food is the highlight, but we wouldn’t choose this place again due to the room/service problems, drink quality, beach-bar experience, and the reception handling of incidents.

Me and my wife just came back from a 7 day stay here and it was really wonderful, the sea view from our room was amazing! The staff at the hotel made the stay truly special, with special thanks to Veronika at reception for all her recommendations and Rania who made sure every meal was a great experience :)
