We booked this room through Booking for one night and chose a budget option, as we only needed a place to spend the night. Based on the photos we saw on our mobile phone, the room appeared acceptable for the price.Upon arrival, we went to the reception to collect the key. However, when we entered the room, we were faced with something completely different from what was shown in the photos. The room had a very unpleasant smell and was clearly dirty. The wall near the door and above the mirror was damaged, with visible signs of severe dampness and humidity.Concerned about our health, especially since humidity can be harmful (particularly for people with asthma), my husband and I asked the reception to change our room, as this one was not suitable for accommodation. The receptionist claimed that he was not aware of any issues with the room, which seemed unbelievable, as such problems are obvious and should be known to the staff. He also insisted that the photos matched the room, despite us showing him the difference between the photos and the actual condition of the room. At that point, he tried to justify the situation.We were then told that the room was in this condition because it had not been renovated, and that this was the reason for the lower price. When we requested another room, we were informed that none were available. Only after realizing that we were clearly upset, we were suddenly told that a room was available due to a cancellation — but we were asked to pay an additional €10 to move.This was unacceptable, considering that the original room was in terrible condition and not fit for staying. Overall, this experience was extremely disappointing, misleading, and unprofessional. We would not recommend this property and would definitely not stay here again.

A Comfortable and Pleasant Stay

We had a very comfortable overnight stay at the Santo George Beach Resort. It’s very well-equipped for quick visits or short stopovers, with everything you need for a relaxing stay. The accommodation was clean, spacious, and nicely decorated.

One of the highlights for me was the power shower—easy to use and genuinely one of the best I’ve experienced! The beds were large and very comfortable. For our personal preference, the pillows were a little too soft, (in our room, perhaps different in others but there were extras available so we managed just fine.)

Breakfast was included in the price and was very nice, with a good buffet variety to suit everyone.
The check-out time was also very reasonable for self-catering accommodation and a good reasonable price, especially with breakfast included.

Overall, it was a great stay. If we return to Heraklion for an event or just a short getaway, we would definitely consider staying again at Santo George Beach Resort.

breakfast was good, they were still building and renovating. location was good, near a bus stop and with nice shops/ restaurants nearby. Our room was not one of the new ones though and it smelled bad, was stained and had lots of ants:( also the power went out so be careful about that. service was okay, reception was mostly empty but when they’re there it’s helpful. After full renovation it would be at least 4 stars

A very nice, small hotel right next to the beach. The rooms are obviously quite new/renovated and definitely big enough to have a nice stay. The room was cleaned up every day and the hotel seems to be very clean in general. The breakfast was better than we expected for this price, so we can't complain.

There is an electric system at the door where you can choose the green button for "cleaning please" and the red button for "please don't disturb". Unfortunately the lady came into our room twice, even though the light was red, but she was really friendly.
The owner wasn't rude, but could've been a little bit friendlier.

All in all it's a very nice place to stay and I recommend it to people like us, who are out quite often and like to have a quiet place to sleep.

The lady Marina, who prepared our breakfast, was super sweet and great at her job. Food, drinks and sweets were all amazing. People could choose easily what to eat for the breakfast. I really loved how she categorized each "food station" and how good the food was!
The rooms were cleaned every day (except for Sunday) and were super tidy. Kitchen has the basics utensils (microwave, toaster, electrical stove, small fridge).
We also used "rent-a-car" service, which was very quick and easy to rent.

The Santo George Beach Hotel is located almost on the beach of Amoudara in Heraklion, Crete. It is the ideal spot from which to discover the beauties of Crete. From here visitors have direct access to the whole of Crete as we are right in the middle of the island.

The center of Heraklion, the Archaeological Museum, and the port are only 10 km away, Nikos Kazantzakis Airport 12 km, while in 15 km the visitor is located in Knossos. Just a 5-minute walk away there are restaurants, tourist shops, café bar.
