I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. There was a vile sewage smell lingering in our room and around the pool area for our entire stay. The entire place needs a good clean. Black mold all over in the shower and  bathroom. The rooms are not cleaned daily. After 2 consecutive days of no cleaner we had to ask at reception for them to send someone to clean the room. Even then the room was cleaned, but bathroom was not touched (only the bin emptied)

We also struggled with hot water for the shower. If you shower in the afternoon, be prepared for a cold shower.

The all-inclusive package is very poor. The drink options are limited to four sugary cocktails, mostly made with kumquat liqueur, ouzo, and soda fountain mixes.
The other options are beer, red/white wine, soda fountain, ice tea and coffee/tea.

The coffee machine at the bar seems to only be working intermittently, so for coffee you only have the option of an americano with milk from a carton. The coffee machine in the dining area works well, but can only be accessed during breakfast and lunch.

The pool is open from 10am to 7pm. The pool bar from 11am to 7pm (but the barman left every night at 6h30pm) and the main bar only opens from 7pm to 11pm for AI.

Lunch and Dinner was good. Something different each night, mostly some form of pork and chicken, boiled veg, chips, pasta and bolognese with 2/3 different salads.

Breakfast was a let down. It consisted mostly of processed meats (even processed bacon some mornings) rubbery overcooked eggs and pastries. There were also cereal, yoghurt and bread.

There are plenty of tavernas and shops nearby, and the hotel is close to Gouvia beach. That said, the beach water is murky, so if you’re looking for clear water you’ll need to travel. Dassia and Kontokali are the nearest clear water beaches.

We were inclusive but I would not eat in here flys all over the food .went to the bar looked at the bottles wasps all over top  of bottles the bar man behind the bar was not bothered  so we eaten else were and drank else were . it would be nice if pics selling a holidays were up to date the  trees and bushes  growing alm over the front and operset is all overgrown bar area is open to the elements  not nice

Stayed here for 6 nights and was very impressed, all the staff were very friendly, the food was amazing and the hotel was in a good location only a short walk from the beach and shops. Has a nice pool with sun loungers and seating. Although the room was clean and cleaned daily the rooms are in need of a renovation especially the bathroom but for a budget hotel it was absolutely fine can't complain. Would definitely stay again

A Heartwarming Greek Getaway at Popi Star Hotel!

My stay at Popi Star Hotel in Gouvia was nothing short of amazing! From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with such warmth and hospitality that instantly made me feel at home. The ambiance of the hotel is cozy, relaxing, and truly captures the charm of Corfu — perfect for a peaceful holiday escape.

One of the highlights was the Greek Night they offer for guests — such a wonderful touch! It was full of music, dancing, and authentic local vibes. A great way to experience the culture without even leaving the hotel grounds.

A special mention goes to the incredible staff, especially those in the kitchen and dining area. They are so friendly, welcoming, and attentive — always ready with a smile and happy to accommodate guests with care. Their hospitality really stood out and made each meal even more enjoyable.

The location is also perfect — just a short walk to nearby beaches where you can relax and take in the beauty of the sea. Getting to Corfu Old Town is super easy by bus, and the stop is conveniently close. Plus, there are plenty of restaurants, grocery stores, and souvenir shops right around the corner, so everything you need is within reach.

I absolutely loved my stay and I’m already looking forward to coming back to Popi Star. If you’re planning a trip to Corfu and want somewhere with heart, soul, and authentic Greek hospitality — this is the place!

This is a great budget hotel.
From the start of our stay at the end of may 2025, the reception staff are friendly  helpful. The food is as good as the local restaurants. The drinks are limited if you are all inclusive, but the bar staff Spiros in the day and Nikolas on the night are great.
The only reason I did not give popi star 5 stars was the housekeeping .
When changing the bed leaving the sheet folded at the food of the bed is a bit annoying. The did not replace the toilet paper then when it was finally replaced it was left in the pack on top of dispenser. Each day they took 1 towel which was an odd thing to do. As for the blazing row they had one morning. Well!!!
But as a whole this is a brilliant budget hotel.

Popi Star Hotel is situated 200 meters from the famous village of Gouvia and about 8km (5 miles) north of Corfu Town and on the way to Dassia, Ipsos and Paleokastritsa.

Popi Star Hotel has a total of 70 rooms with facilities that include a lobby with satellite TV, an inviting bar, a Breakfast area, free Internet access and swimming pool. The Standard Rooms include an en suite bathroom, satellite TV, free of charge safe deposit box, a fridge, and air conditioning (fees apply).  Amongst Popi Star Hotel leisure facilities count a poolside snack bar as well as table tennis.

100 meters away is the natural sheltered and very charming  organized Gouvia beach (sandy and pebble). The area offers a variety of Restaurants, souvenir stores, mini markets, and nightlife in the many clubs and bars of the area.

The Old Venetisan Arsenal, the Serbian Monument and the Marina (one of the most complete infrastructure Mediterranean Marinas) are at one end of the village ideal for walks or Jogging.
