Location & getting there

Niyama Private Islands Maldives lies in the southwestern Dhaalu Atoll, about 180 km from Velana International Airport in Malé. Most guests take a scenic 40-45 minute seaplane ride straight to the resort’s private pontoon.

The islands are completely private with direct beach access from the villas. There are no public boats or walks to other islands, so you get that lovely secluded feel.

Room types

All villas come with air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, a safe, a TV, a minibar, and indoor/outdoor bathrooms. You also get bicycles to explore the islands easily.

  • Beach Villas-

These spacious 135 sqm villas sleep up to two adults and two children. They sit right on the beach with open-air bathrooms and private terraces complete with swings. Great for easy sea access.

  • Beach Pool Villas-

A step up at around 145 sqm, these include your own plunge pool. Choose lagoon or ocean views and enjoy extra privacy on the terrace. Ideal for families or couples who want a bit more luxury.

  • Water Pool Villas-

These overwater villas (175 sqm+) have infinity pools, direct steps into the lagoon, and overwater hammocks. Note that young children need extra care here due to the water features.

  • Multi-Bedroom Pavilions-

The larger options (400–770 sqm) work really well for bigger families. They offer multiple pools, separate living areas, and top-level butler service. Some even have private kitchens and spa spaces. Excellent for family holidays in the Maldives.

Kids club & family facilities

Explorers Kids Club is one of the best parts for families. It welcomes children from just 12 months old and splits them into age groups with fun names like Globetrotters and Pioneers.

Younger ones have an hourly charge, while older kids enjoy it for free. There’s a splash park, a climbing wall, a trampoline, and even a little kitchen for baking. Activities include reef walks, dolphin trips, and movie nights.

Children’s menus are available everywhere, and you can book private babysitting if needed. Cots and high chairs come at no extra cost. The Play Island setup makes this a strong pick for family holidays in the Maldives.

Spa, wellness & fitness

Drift Spa offers a peaceful escape with overwater treatment rooms and garden pavilions. You can get massages, Ayurvedic therapies, facials and body wraps. There’s also a relaxation area with a plunge pool, hot tubs, saunas and steam rooms. Treatments do cost extra.

The Pump Fitness Centre stays open 24 hours and has great lagoon views. You’ll find cardio machines, weights, a boxing ring, and a studio for classes. Daily yoga, HIIT and Zumba sessions are complimentary. It’s a solid choice if you want to stay active on your wellness hotel break.

Sports & activities

Niyama gives you plenty to do both on land and in the water. Many activities are included so you can keep things relaxed or energetic.

You get free non-motorised water sports like kayaks, paddleboards and snorkel gear. Tennis, badminton, beach volleyball and table tennis are also complimentary, with equipment provided. Daily fitness classes run regularly too.

Paid options include jet skis, diving trips through the PADI centre, surf lessons and guided boat excursions. Evening entertainment brings acoustic music and the occasional party at Subsix. There’s something for everyone on a Maldives beach holiday.
