Very Great hotel right in the center of Heraklion — clean, modern, and super comfortable. The reception team was amazing: really friendly, professional, and always there to help. Maria stood out — she was so kind, spoke several languages, and made everything easy to communicate. You can tell she really cares about the guests.

The website is inaccurate - breakfast is not included with all reservations, there is not an airport shuttle, and not all rooms have balconies. We had 3 rooms, each had a patio door but instead of a balcony each room had a grate or railing so the patio door could be opened but there was no balcony to step onto. One of our rooms did not have a door for the shower so water got all over. The day we arrived, the hotel said the replacement door was “on the boat from Athens”. We were there for 7 nights and the shower door never arrived. Another of our rooms had bathroom light switches that did not work properly. The day we arrived, the hotel said the maintenance worker was “on the way”. He never arrived and the bathroom was quite dark. This could be a good hotel if they would respond faster to maintenance needs and if they corrected inaccuracies on their website.

In my room (304) half the sliding door to the shower was gone. The other half leaked at the seams so that there was after every shower a lake next to the shower. Staff said it happened 2 days before I arrived. There was also a weird smell in the shower and quite many black spots. Quite many other things in the (for 4 stars) small and very badly designed room were on the verge of breaking (a chair,a light in the ceiling,towel hanger in the bathroom). Also the fridge was never refilled. Room service worked well and the common areas were nice & clean. Staff was OK,not overly friendly (when you come in again in the evening they often ignore you and dont say hello). Overall for the price I expected a better experience.

The floor could have been a little cleaner,  but otherwise perfect. The restaurant, Hacienda, not so much. Go next door for better food and service. The free breakfast is worth it at half the price.

This hotel has amazing view of the church and courtyard right near by.  It can be a little noisy until around 11pm if you are someone that likes to sleep with the door open, but with the door closed it was no concern.

The staff are amazing and were able to facilitate a very early check in for us, which was very much appreciated!  The staff also gave amazing recommendations for restaurants nearby!

The room was a decent size, and is well setup.

You are within walking distance of everything, from the ferry, to restaurants, and historical sights from the hotel here.

The breakfast is provided by the restaurant next door and was served similar to how you would do High Tea in London.  It was all quite tasty!

My husband made a reservation at Metropolitan Urban Hotel in Heraklion but accidentally booked it for one day later than intended. He realized the mistake immediately and called the hotel to ask if it could be moved one day earlier.

The hotel said there was no availability, which we accepted, but when he asked if the reservation could be canceled and refunded, they told him to contact Booking.com. He did, and Booking.com contacted the hotel — but the hotel declined the request.

We understand that policies exist, but he acted right away and explained everything clearly. Unfortunately, the hotel was not willing to help at all, which left us quite disappointed. Based on this experience, we wouldn’t choose to stay here again.
