This is our second time at the Laren family and spa hotel and its amazing, we both love it here and we will definitely be coming back in the future!

The staff and receptionists are so kind and incrediblely helpful. They even helped us with taxis over to the old town.

The food is really nice, (we were all inclusive) and they had a very nice selection of all you can eat buffet and desserts.

The rooms are really clean and the showers are spacious. Also there are alot of great facilities on site like the outdoor swimming pool (which is massive) and also there is a jacuzzi, spa, steam room, sauna and a gym!

Thank you for a lovely stay and we will see you soon 🫶

I could not fault this hotel. I went out alone for treatment and i was very nervous but ALL of the staff were AMAZING. They work so hard and do not get enough credit for it. They will bend over backwards to make sure you are safe happy fed and have all you need. Fantastic hotel. Respect works both ways and they couldnt do enough for me. Very clean happy friendly and i want to thank all of the staff for everything. Some of the best people i have met in my life !

If you’re looking for a hotel that turns a simple stay into a full blown endurance test, this might be the place for you!

We arrived to a room with flickering lights, unfortunately one of our group has epilepsy, so this wasn’t just annoying, it was a genuine health risk. The solution offered? “Turn all the electricity off.” Helpful… except that meant no lighting or air conditioning. Heat, as it turns out, is also a seizure trigger. Who knew 🤷🏻‍♀️

Naturally, navigating a pitch black room led to someone falling in the night. But don’t worry!! this was offset by the luxurious touch of a warm fruit platter apology. Slight oversight: it was given to someone with diabetes. You couldn’t make it up 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣

The fridge didn’t work either, so we were told to store essential medication in a communal fridge. Because nothing says “peace of mind” like hoping your insulin is still there in the morning.

We had also booked a twin room and were instead given a double and a pull-out chair. Not a sofa bed, a chair. For six nights. My spine would like a word.

Things escalated further when the hotel lost water completely. Not just in our room the entire hotel. No communication from staff, no contingency plan, and no bottled water available. We only found out via a local café. Guests were effectively left without drinking water or basic sanitation, including one member of our group with ulcerative colitis being told to just “use the toilet anyway”… despite it not flushing.

Service wise, it was a mixed bag if you enjoy unpredictability. Drinks prices varied for identical orders, and on one occasion a drink was poured away in front of us because the bar “closed” mid pour (it was my third drink of the evening, for context not exactly wild behaviour).

The night manager deserves a special mention not for service, but for providing an ongoing sense of discomfort. Dismissive, intimidating, and apparently happy to discuss guests negatively within earshot of reception. A nice personal touch.

Privacy also seems optional here. After I stayed in another guest’s room (having already booked my own but been given a chair to sleep on), it was raised as an issue, apparently staff had been watching CCTV and monitoring movements. This resulted in that guest leaving the hotel early. Nothing like a bit of surveillance and moral judgement to enhance your holiday.

Sharing a proper bed seemed to be a problem, yet sleeping on the reception sofa in full pyjamas with a bonnet and blanket was perfectly acceptable. I can only assume this is the standard they prefer guests to be seen at check in. Maybe they’ll employ me to be part of the welcome party for new guests 🤣

Meanwhile, other guests were involved in actual physical altercations, yet no similar attention seemed to be paid to them. Consistency clearly isn’t a priority.

All in all, this hotel manages to combine unsafe conditions, poor service, lack of basic facilities and questionable professionalism into one unforgettable experience.

Would I return? Only if I needed a reminder of what not to accept from a hotel.

My mother and I had a lovely time at the Laren Family Hotel when we went this Winter for dental treatment. We loved the food there, the menu offered a wide range and provided plenty of it. Morat and his staff tried to do as much for us as they possibly could have and it was appreciated. There were many cooks, waiters and cleaners and it showed in their service. The location was good and within walking distance to the dentist, mall and hundreds of coffee shops etc by the seaview walk which was stunning. By road, the distance was further but you still passed hundreds of coffee shops, restaurants and bars etc. The room was lovely and did look and feel like a 4 star room but we didn't have a TV with an internet facility and we went for dental treatment in the winter so probably would have used it after appointments. Besides that, we had a great experience in a beautiful 4 star hotel and it did make the holiday better!

The hotel was very close to the sea and a waterfall. The staff were excellent, and the buffet food was exceptional. The hotel had a fantastic spa, gym, sauna, jacuzzi, massage therapy room, and hair salon. It was a very peaceful place. I would definitely recommend it.
