Extremely unsafe conditions – visible black mould and no accountability from management.

I stayed one night at Hotel Kilimanjaro in October 2025, and it was one of the most shocking hotel experiences I’ve ever had. Upon entering our first room (401), there was an overwhelming musty odour and black mould visibly growing around the air-conditioning vent. The air felt damp and unhealthy to breathe. When we asked to move rooms, we were shown two others (205 and 110) — both had strong damp smells, water damage, and in one case more visible mould near the air duct.

This was especially alarming as one of my friends suffers from asthma and another from a chronic cough. Black mould (Stachybotrys chartarum) is known to cause serious respiratory and long-term health problems, and clearly should never be present in guest areas.

We informed the staff immediately and were told to speak with the general manager in the morning about a refund. When we returned, the day receptionist was dismissive, claimed the manager was not available, and offered no assistance whatsoever. We have yet to receive a reply from the hotel.

We had no choice but to check out early for our own safety and rebook at another property, incurring additional expenses.

If you value your health, I strongly urge you to avoid this hotel until they address the severe mould contamination and lack of management accountability. No guest should have to experience this

Extremely Unsafe – Black Mould and No Accountability from Management

I stayed one night at Hotel Kilimanjaro in October 2025, and it was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. Our first room (401) had a strong musty odour and visible black mould around the air-conditioning vent. The air felt damp and unhealthy to breathe.

When we asked to move, we were shown two other rooms (205 and 110) — both smelled of moisture and showed signs of water damage, with more mould visible in one of them. Black mould is a serious health hazard and should never be present in guest rooms.

We reported the issue immediately and were told to speak with the manager the next morning concerning a refund. However, the morning receptionist refused to let us contact the manager, saying he could not give out “personal information” — which is understandable — but I left my full name and phone number to be contacted instead. No one ever reached out, and our concerns were completely dismissed.

We ended up checking out early for our own safety and had to rebook elsewhere at our own expense.

If you value your health, do not stay here until this hotel properly addresses the mould problem and their lack of accountability. No guest should ever be treated this way.

We have still not been reached out to and now r he hotel refused a refund for the 3 nights we booked (only stayed 1 night after seeing the mould), which was ridiculously expensive. After reading more reviews, it’s clear we likely avoided an even worse experience. Highly recommend avoiding this place

Staff were friendly, pool is a nice size with loungers and the bar area was relaxed. The morning buffet was very average and the rooms were really basic but clean and big. Surround by shops and the walk to the beach was around 10 minutes.

Good:
Room was ok and clean.
The matress on the bed was really confy.
The ac worked fine.
The pools looks great and it has a waterfall - very relaxing. I really liked that there was no music at least in the morning and the sound of the waterfall was really calming my thoughts.
Breakfast was great.

Bad:
The room had no fridge. How can I keep my cola0 and water cold with no fridge ?? For 100 euros for one night at *** hotel, I expect a small fridge.

The bathroom door couldn t be closed.

The toilet said disinfected but it had a small hair on it and some small stains on the seat.

Wifi had lag spikes and signal intreruptions. They really need a modern wifi mesh system or a better internet contract.

We had a great stay at Hotel Killimanjaro! My friends where staying there and I came to surprise them a day later, all this was possible with the help of Tolo, the manager of the Hotel who enthousiasticly helped me to arrange the surprise. The pool is big and our room was very spacious including 2 balconies. The location was perfect, walking distance from the strip/beach. Thank you Tolo for the amazing time and help!
