We had a lovely stay at RIU Vistamar! The hotel offers breathtaking views and a generally high level of service. Here is a breakdown of our experience:
Dining & Drinks
The food was a major highlight. We found a huge variety of dishes, especially during breakfast and dinner. A nice touch was the sparkling wine available at breakfast, which made the mornings feel a bit more special. Lunch had fewer options compared to the other meals, but it was still decent.
Regarding the drinks: the cocktails were a bit too sweet for my taste, but with such a wide selection, you can definitely find something you’ll enjoy.
Entertainment & Facilities
The evening entertainment consists of a one-hour professional show. While the shows were good, we were a bit disappointed that there was no dancing program or disco afterwards to keep the night going.
On the plus side, the hotel provides a convenient shuttle bus to the beach, which is very helpful given the hotel's clifftop location.
Service & Communication
The only real downside was the communication before our arrival. I contacted support via email/message to clarify whether the airport transfer was included, but I never received a response. It would be great if the management could improve their responsiveness to guest inquiries.
Summary
Despite the minor communication issue and the sweet cocktails, it’s a wonderful hotel with amazing views. I would definitely recommend it for a relaxing getaway!

Lovely all inclusive hotel suitable for all, however would not recommend to people with mobility problems unless they planned to stay within the hotel grounds which is well served with lifts etc. For these people freely available taxis via reception would be a must if they went out. Having said that, a courtesy bus to the beach with a good timetable is useful.
For all other holidaymakers it's a great hotel, we found all staff to be very friendly - would go out of their way to help and the animation team worked hard to entertain and put on some great shows.
Also professional acts, singers, acrobats were of a good standard.
The food was of a high standard, typical of any Riu hotel and we've stayed at a few.

Rooms are small but have balconies, and many have sea views. I found the buffet to be reasonably varied. The Sports Bar has fantastic views and is open 24 hours a day. Staff were incredibly friendly and accomodating. There's paid parking onsite; spots are tiny. The entertainment element could use some improvement; I've been to other Rius in Spain with a more dynamic night schedule.

We stay at this hotel, at least once a year with or without family. The staff are warm friendly people, who cannot do enough to make your stay a memorable one. The rooms are spacious and cleaned daily to a high standard, each  has it's own private balcony, to relax on.
The restaurants cater for all dietary requirements and offer various cuisines, all cooked to a high standard and very tasty.
The restaurant staff are  efficient, professional, but warm and approachable people. They have become  good friends over the past years and we always look forward to seeing them.
The hotel provides a private bus service to and from Amadores beach daily. One of the prettiest coral beaches I have seen. Where you can walk to Puerto Rico.
The entertainment team work throughout the day and evenings, providing activities for both adults and children.  They also participate in some of the nightly shows. There is also a wide variety of live acts to be seen.
All in all we cannot recommend this hotel enough, it's  our favourite place in Gran Canaria and we cannot wait to return.

Please go somewhere else. Such a poor value for money, the only good thing I would say is a view.
The hotel is quite isolated from the rest at least you ready to pay a taxi everyday to go somewhere. Entertainment very poor, well maybe not if you love a rock bands.
If you planning to come with kids please don't at least you want them to sat in very poor children club or a small disco for 30 minutes.
You not allowed to play ball games in swimming pool even if it is no one in there, when they used the floaties to a bit entertain themselves got shouted and scared by a lifeguard.
Oh and yes the pools is definitely not even close to be heated, so freezing, especially the kids one as very windy on the top.
The food selection is so poor, everything cooked from frozen: frozen fish, vegetables, pizza. Dried out items, which kept served and reserved. Drinks all from a tap machines.  Definitely not even close to quality of a 4* hotel.
Christmas and New Year's so called "gala" dinner was amazing if you like to stay with no drink for 20 minutes, and stay in a long queue for a food.
So if you wish for a normal Canaries great Christmas and New Year with great entertainment and proper sit down dinner, that is not a right place. Apparently the entertainment team is off for Christmas as we been told, even when they were back on New Year's Eve looked like they more interested to entertain themselves then the customers.
Oh and the final for our stay at the Riu is a good old food poisoning, which even we been very careful what we ate, as could see that a high standards of food handling procedures and storage is not a case there from the beginning. Never seen so many people being sick around in any hotel we previously stayed.

Lovely stay at Riu Vistamar. We loved the effort the made with Christmas decorations throughout the hotel. Food was excellent with plenty of choice. 1.5l bottles of water available as well which made things much easier. The Hotel offered a free bus service to the beach and back and did this throughout the day.
Downside was the elevators. There were only 3 on our side of the hotel, and we felt we used a lot of our holiday time waiting for a lift. (We were of floor 1 and had to get to floor 7 for the restaurant and floor 9 to go up to the pools)
Throughout the 7 days stay, two of these elevators were not working at separate times, often just leaving two available. They were small and often stopping while being full. One child's pram and an adult max for size, or 4 people could fit uncomfortablely.
Another downside, is the lack of supervision by staff on the pool area's. There are 3 pools all on different levels. I cannot comment on the childrens pool, but it appeared to be one lifeguard for the two adult pools. Often children were coming into the adult pools, being disruptive (although they were having fun) but no staff were there to redirect them to the childrens pool.
Overall we had a really good time.

What a beautiful hotel this was, I recently stayed with my 2 children and would definitely return. The hotel staff was very friendly, location was beautiful although get ready for the steps around the pool areas 😊 the food was always freshly cooked with a good choice and the sea view suite we had was stunning. The kids entertainment was just enough and couldnt be more grateful for the effort they put into my children 🩷💙 it was a quick walk to the europa centre and a free shuttle to the beach. Overall a lovely holiday 🥰

Pros: Staff do their best to accommodate your stay and work through any issues. Decent amount of food selection for those without dietary restrictions. Shuttle to the beach although the schedule is limited. Most of the food is pretty good actually, although variety doesn’t change too much day to day. Hotel views are great. Lots of pool options (although water could be warmer so we did not swim). Location wise you are by one of the best beaches (Amadores).
Cons: Dining signs for food allergies are not correct and staff acknowledges this so you have to ask about every single item. There are no true “restaurants,” only more buffets being marketed as such. They make you create a reservation for holiday dinners, but they are still buffet style and only now you have everyone show up at the same time (instead of staggered), which results in a very long line of people waiting for steak (which ends being chewy and overcooked by my standards). We had to switch rooms twice due to a number of issues (clicking fan, loud kids and thin walls, non working safe, flooding shower). Something my father ate the last day did not sit well in his stomach the entire last night. Towel change service only open until 2pm even though the pool is open later. Lack of room amenities in standard room (no conditioner, lotion, etc.). Blow dryer doesn’t let you use it for long before it shuts off (weird safely feature). Elevators are a hot commodity during peak meal times and you will find yourself waiting a long time before a free one appears on your floor. The hotel also lost power for part of Christmas Day.
