The hotel is located on Cayo Santa Maria, a small island off Cuba’s northern coast that’s renowned for its picture-perfect beaches and array of water sports. Holidaymakers can be as active or as relaxed as they want, taking in the nearby white-sand beaches or enjoying a self-guided walk through the forest to reach Playa Las Gaviotas. Alternatively, both Pueblo Las Dunas and Pueblo la Estrella shopping areas can be found a 5-minute drive either side of the hotel. Those wanting to venture out can reach the Cuban mainland within a 30-minute drive; the city of Santa Clara, with its iconic revolutionary landmarks, is a 90-minute drive from the hotel.
Playa Cayo Santa Maria hotel houses 793 rooms across three floors. Of these, 768 are standard rooms, 24 are suites and one is a master suite. Six of the rooms are also adapted for those with reduced mobility. Each of the standard en suite rooms are equipped with one double or two single beds, and are kitted out with modern touches such as tea and coffee making facilities, satellite TV and air conditioning. Guests can opt to upgrade their standard rooms to feature views of the ocean, pool or surrounding gardens. Suites offer more room as well as a private balcony or patio, while special extras - including a bottle of Cuban rum and a fruit platter on arrival - are also included. Lastly, the luxurious beach suite offers two bedrooms, two bottles of cava, a private pool and private butler service.

There are a number of on-site restaurants for guests to choose from, allowing foodies to traverse the globe without even leaving the hotel! Tuck into a selection of Asian cuisine at Panda Rojo restaurant, or sample an extensive seafood menu in the evening at Ranchón Puerto San Juan restaurant. When it comes to bars, Playa Cayo Santa Maria pushes the boat out there too; as well as a chilled pool by the bar, there’s everything from a beer garden to an ice cream parlour, cigar bar and a beach bar.
