The Property: The building itself is quite nice, but it is one of those places where the staff makes you feel sorry for existing.

Front Desk & Management:
-Any request is treated as a major inconvenience, and every simple question is an annoyance.
-The night front desk staff were visibly unhappy and annoyed by questions.
-A hotel “manager” at night (slightly older gentleman) literally stopped my friend and me in the garage to demand our room number and ask why we were there. This was especially absurd considering we had just walked down two separate ramps (both requiring gate key scans) to get to my Mercedes AMG CLE rental so I could give my friend a safe ride home. You'd think that would be a clue that I was a staying guest.

The Spa & Pool Incident:
-I assumed there would be towels by the pool and only realized there weren't any after I jumped in.
-I tried to communicate with the front desk staff from a distance so I wouldn't wet the floor, but they wouldn't even walk over to explain the setup.
-Once I reluctantly walked over to the desk soaking wet, they angrily explained that I was apparently supposed to walk outside barefoot, up a flight of stairs, across the property to the outdoor pool, grab a towel, and come back in. Silly me, I should have known better!

Dining Experience:
-The staff bussing tables at breakfast were rude, kicking people out promptly after breakfast stopped serving at 10:30 am, visibly frustrated.

-I didn’t sleep well my last night after some tragic family news, and politely asked for a one hour late checkout. The staff member begrudgingly granted me a one-hour late checkout but then immediately gave me misinformation, claiming I was too late for breakfast and they were only serving coffee. Update: I was not too late and successfully had breakfast. The breakfast reception ladies were nice and said I could eat, no problem.

The Only Highlights (The Two Positives of a Two-Night Stay):

Shout out to the nice lady (blonde hair) who checked me in at 16:48 PM on 6/7, talked me through my room options, and got me exactly what I was looking for.
Kudos to the nice kitchen staff member who made me a sunny-side-up egg.
Apparently, you only get one positive interaction per day here.

Final Verdict:
-A total nightmare. Stay elsewhere—maybe Aubamar down the road for a 100% better experience.
-I’m sorry, Hipotels Gran Playa, I mistook you for a nice hotel, silly me ;)

P.S. If you hate hospitality, maybe find a different line of work. And if you hate tourists, maybe don't operate seemingly nice hotels in Ballermann.

Modern and upscale hotel. Incredibly clean, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. We loved our room and bathroom, which were both impressively large and comfortable. The half-board option was definitely worth it, as both the breakfast and dinner buffets offered a great variety every day.

On the negative side, be aware that drinks are not included with the half-board dinner, so you will need to pay extra for beverages. Additionally, the surrounding neighborhood can be quite lively and noisy. Depending on the location of your room, you might catch less or more of the noise.

This was our second stay at this hotel, and we enjoyed it very much once again. The location is practically right on the beach, yet the atmosphere in the hotel grounds and by the pool is peaceful. Just like on our first visit, we booked two double rooms and were given two rooms right next to each other. The procedure for parking the car in the underground garage was explained to us in detail, and I think €10 per day is a very fair price—we had expected it to be significantly more. The rooms were cleaned reliably every morning, and there were always fresh towels. The staff were all very friendly and helpful; unfortunately, there was only one time when we felt the staff member wasn’t really trying her best to accommodate our request, though maybe we just caught her on a bad day. Still, we’d come back anytime, since you can have a wonderful vacation here and really unwind. If you want to grab a bite to eat at the poolside restaurant at lunchtime, there’s a dress code—eating in a bikini or swim trunks isn’t allowed, so just quickly throw on a T-shirt. The rooftop bar on the seventh floor of the Palace Hotel next door is highly recommended for a drink at sunset.

I rarely write negative reviews, but this stay was genuinely disappointing and far from what you would expect from a “4-star” hotel.

At Hipotels Gran Playa de Palma, you don’t feel like a guest — you feel like a wallet. Almost everything is an opportunity to charge extra. Drinking water is not provided (why giving free water when you sell 50cl bottle for 3.5€), which is surprising at this level. Even something as basic as weighing your luggage comes at an additional cost.

The half-board meals were underwhelming, and with a dining experience that feels rushed. Staff begin clearing up as early as 8:30 pm, which makes dinner feel more like a closing shift than a relaxed meal.

Breakfast is another weak point. It only starts at 8:00 am (in March), which creates unnecessary queues and congestion — not exactly what you want when starting your day.

Overall, the experience feels transactional and lacking in basic hospitality. This is not what I would expect from a 4-star hotel, and certainly not good value for money.

I would not recommend staying here.

This a really clean, modern hotel in a good location. Thr staff are helpful and friendly. We would 100% stay here again.
