Things To Keep In Mind

The staff went out of their way to serve us. Would love to comeback just to see them again

The chef created a special meal for us chicken and vegetable casserole it was fantastic I wish it was on their regular menu
Every meal was delicious cooked perfectly
Our room was perfect supper clean comfortable bedding we were there for 5 days it felt like home.

Really enjoyed my stay. Rm was serviced beautifully each day. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Conf was great. Breakfast was very yum each day. The pool being open with the pool earlier each day would have been good instead of 9am. But overall had a great stay. Thankyou

I stayed here with my partner for a week and the hotel was great. For one, the reception and bar staff were absolutely amazing, always were greeted by a smile and hello.  The housekeeping were very friendly when we passed them in the hallway.
We had a lovely double room - had all we needed. The double bed was two singles pushed together creating a big gap in the middle, but it wasn't too much of a fuss. Still slept very well. And it was very comfy! When we had our room cleaned, I don't think they changed the bed sheets because the tea (that I accidentally spilt in the bed) was still there after they had cleaned our room. Not a big deal but probably worth mentioning.
We were the side facing the parking and the main road. Yes it was a bit loud some nights but it never really bothered us. AC was working well and kept us cool. Mini fridge is also provided!

Location is great! Only 10-20 min walk to town depending where you wanna go. And only a 5 or so minute walk to the nearest beach!

Pool was lovely and the bar was superb with their drinks!

I would absolutely stay here again if I come back to Chania. Everyone was so nice especially the nights guys who helped us with our taxi a few times!

Our 2nd home for the last 7 weeks (July - 30 Aug) very comfortable room and clean, the friendly staff special mentioned to Mrs Fotini , amazing breafast every morning and any that we asked for always delivered. So wonderful and memorable experience. Annually summer vacation in Crete we always stayed at Akali Hotel. Never failed. Until next time. Great location very near the center. Rooms were clean and good, not the biggest. Service was also good, more so in the hotel's restaurant that at the lobby.

Excellent hotel, excellent service, both at the reception and the dining room. I would like to especially mention and thank Alexandros – every request we had was immediately answered and he always tried to help with everything. His sense of service goes above and beyond. The rooms are clean, the hotel is beautiful and spotless. Everything was simply excellent

Very satisfied with my stay at this hotel. I wrote to the hotel a few days prior and asked for a quiet room due to an illness that is triggered by poor sleep. I knew some of the rooms faced the main road and can be quite noisy so I asked for a room away from the traffic and they responded quickly and confirmed I'll get a quiet room. I got a room overlooking the pool and slept very peacefully every night. The room was small, barely any room to walk about but had a good standard and a decent sized and clean bathroom. AC made some noise, but worked great. Wifi in the room worked fantastically. Breakfast was good, but kind of the same every day. Service overall was just ok, not spectacular. Very nice and smiling housekeeping staff. The breakfast staff were fine, but sometimes I had to wonder why they were there. They didn't do much those times I had breakfast. They did not clear the used plates from my table, except once, and the one time they went around offering a hot beverage at the table, it was coffee, which I don't drink and they didn't offer to bring me any hot water for tea. The reception staff always gave a nod whenever I passed by, but were not very smiley. Location is great or not so great depending on what you prioritize. If you value shopping and exploring the Old Town, the location is great because all this is within 10 - 20 min from the hotel. If you prefer to be close to the beach, the location is not ideal as the nearest beach is about 20 - 30 mins on foot. Overall, no major complaints, I did like the hotel and my stay there. But if I could give some feedback it would be regarding the following:

1) MUNCIPALITY TAX: Reception should ask for payment for the muncipality tax UPFRONT AT CHECK IN or remind guests that they will have to pay it at the end of their stay because demanding a large (probably unexpected) payment upon checkout can be very inconvenient for most. My travel agent hid this information well in the fine print somewhere and I never saw it. At the end of my stay, I had to pay a 70 euro tax bill when I had used up all my travel budget, which was a bit of a shock. Kind of left a sour taste on an otherwise pleasant stay at this hotel.

2) PARKING: Reception should mention UPON CHECK IN that there is a free parking garage exclusively for hotel guests across the street from the hotel. There are a few parking spaces beside and in front of the hotel, but they fill up fast because they're not monitored to ensure that they are being used by hotel guests only. Plus 2 of these spaces are reserved for the hotel's management. I didn't know about the parking garage so I struggled to get parking by the hotel every day, which is very stressful after a day of exploring & long driving. It would have been helpful if reception had mentioned upon check in that if you have a car, the parking garage is available. Yes, I also could have asked, but I didn't because earlier when I was reading up on the hotel, most people only mentioned the parking spaces by the hotel, which might indicate that they too did not know about the parking garage. Moreover, it's a basic service to your guests to provide such practical information regarding the municpality tax and parking arrangement UPON CHECK IN.

3) HOUSEKEEPING: Allow guess to keep their shower caps for the duration of their stay or replace it if removed. Don't remove it and not replace it. Also if there's only one toilet paper left and it's half used, provide an extra one. Replace beach towels if they used. I had to ask for these items. It's not a problem to ask, but it would have been nice if I didn't have to.
