The beach is only around a five-minute walk away, so you can easily split your day between the Mediterranean and the town's historic streets. Once you've checked in, there's very little need to rely on transport.
The building itself is part of the appeal. Housed inside a carefully restored 19th-century property, the hotel keeps much of its original character while adding modern comforts where they matter. It feels more personal than a large hotel and that's something many guests appreciate.
Rooms are stylish without being overdone. Soundproofing helps keep things quiet, while air conditioning, complimentary Wi-Fi, minibars, flat-screen TVs and modern bathrooms with bathrobes and premium toiletries come as standard. Some rooms also feature French balconies overlooking the surrounding streets, adding a little extra character.
The rooftop terrace is one of the hotel's best features. The swimming pool isn't enormous, but it's a pleasant place to cool off while looking across Fuengirola's rooftops. There's also a gourmet restaurant, a cosy dining room with a fireplace, a stylish bar and wellness facilities including a sauna and massage treatments if you'd like a slower afternoon.
The location makes exploring simple. Fuengirola's train station, beach, marina, restaurants and local attractions are all within walking distance, giving you plenty to do without needing a car. If you fancy seeing more of the Costa del Sol, regular train services make day trips easy as well.
Casa Consistorial isn't the obvious choice if you're after a large beachfront hotel with endless facilities. Instead, it offers character, a central location and a more intimate feel that's hard to find in bigger hotels. For many travellers, that's exactly the attraction.
