About Villas HM Paraiso Del Mar
At Villas HM Paraiso Del Mar, on the tiny island of Holbox, north of the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico – in other words, paradise is on your doorstep. The luxurious hotel grounds are lined by palm trees and stretch out to the island’s sandy white beaches and to the ocean beyond them. On the other side, a large, freshwater swimming pool is surrounded by the hotel’s stunning tropical garden. If the splendour of this environment is not enough, the Paraiso Del Mar goes above and beyond for the happiness of their customers - offering guided day trips out into the further reaches of the island and spa treatments including a traditional cleansing steam bath called Temazcal. At the end of the day, unwind in one of the resort’s minimalistic-style rooms inspired by the Maya culture, complete with wooden furnishings. Surrounded by nature, this hotel is a peaceful retreat from the world.
Holbox is a small, idyllic island in the Mexican Yucatan Peninsula. It’s largely uninhabited, and the majority of its 56 square kilometres are lush rainforest and mangrove swamp; the natural state of the habitat almost completely untouched. The small corner of the island that does contain buildings operates on a low-key level, with people getting around on foot, bicycle or by golf cart. An effort is made to preserve Holbox and its environment, and it works - the beaches are beautiful, sparkling white with a clear blue sea that maintains the island’s main trades in fishing and sea life spotting. The hotel’s name, Paraiso Del Mar, translates to “paradise of the sea” – and that’s exactly what this destination is.
The Paraiso Del Mar offers three different room types, all decorated stylishly in warm tones with a traditional Mexican aesthetic. The standard Junior Suite is a twin or double room with en-suite, some of which also have a balcony or terrace. The Junior Suite is 45 square metres, with a seating area and elegant hardwood flooring. As an upgrade to this, the Superior Junior suite is similar in design but also features an exclusive jacuzzi. The largest size of accommodation available is the Master Suite, which on top of the other rooms’ features, also has its own private lounge room.
Food and Drink
The Villas HM Paraiso Del Mar boasts three bars: poolside and snack bars that are open throughout the day, and a lounge bar that’s open in the evenings. The bars offer American-influenced food, cocktails and other drinks. The Paraiso Restaurant, which is open in the evenings, serves high quality traditional Mexican cuisine from fresh, local ingredients. Breakfast is served to all guests: here you will find homemade pastries and bread, fresh fruit, cold meats, typical cheeses, Mexican cuisine and warm dishes including fried and scrambled eggs. There are also various other restaurants on the island preparing a range of cuisines from traditional fresh seafood to pizza and sushi.
Sports, Games and Entertainment
The undisturbed natural habitat of Holbox Island offers endless opportunities for sightseeing and exploration by land and sea. The hotel offers the hire of golf carts, with which guests can explore the picturesque island on their own terms. For more in-depth trips out to the further reaches of Holbox, guided tours can also be booked at the hotel reception. Watersports are popular here, and the island is known as a perfect location to learn how to kite surf. The hotel itself also has plenty to offer in the way of activities, and guests at the Villas HM Paraiso Del Mar can indulge in spa treatments including a variety of massages and traditional therapeutic rituals.
