Apollon Hotel

I stayed at the Apollon Hotel from September 5th to 19th. It's in a great location, close to the beach and the city center. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I'd especially like to mention the hotel manager, Mr. Giorgos, a very energetic and professional leader. The rooms are cleaned daily. The restaurant food is high-quality and varied, with fresh fish prepared daily. The hotel bar has a wide selection of drinks. I recommend this hotel to anyone who appreciates good quality at a reasonable price.

My wife and I were at the Apollon Hotel at the end of August and we had a fabulous time. I give this hotel 5 stars for room, service, location and food. The hotel shows signs of having been repainted recently, and all the public areas were clean, tidy and completely intact (no chips, scars or marks). The room was great and was cleaned and had towels replaced every day. The room had a small balcony with a clothes rack. The bathroom was a little on the small side, but perfectly acceptable and useable. The only negative that comes to mind is that the hotel is definitely not on one level, and so not a destination for anyone that has trouble with stairs. The staff were without exception very friendly and very helpful, to point where having arrived at around 11pm, they has set aside a plate of salad and cold meats. The location is excellent; being a 10 to 15 minute amble down to the harbour / busy area. The first part of the walk is up a fairly shallow hill. Lots of traffic to deal with, but all vehicles seem to give way to pedestrians. The local beach is lovely. There are lots and lots of restaurants, but we could only find 10 or so bars in the area, I do however recommend the Karaoke in the Irish bar. The dining area at the hotel is self-service. The hot food is served in heated trays, and the chilled from large chilled serving fridges. It's not a-la-carte restaurant quality food, but I left the dining area every day, and regardless of breakfast, lunch or dinner, having had a tasty and very satisfying meal. There was hot and more continental breakfasts, hot and cold lunch and dinner. Some delicious Greek salads and some tasty desserts. All in all, I can't recommend the Apollon enough as a higher end 3 star (more like 4). PS: The WIFI was great in the lobby, bar and dining area, but a little weak in some parts of the room.

My friend and I stayed here for one week last week B&B room 619 next to maids cupboard so can bit a bit noisy first thing. I have given 4☆ on the basis of room, bathroom and downstairs toilet. Rooms are a small double, mattress is great and comfy however we dont spend all day in our room do we. I did find it very limited space at the bottom of bed to keep squeezing by. No coffee or tea machine in rooms yet it states on here that there are coffee machines in all rooms. We spoke to reception in the morning and was given a kettle. Please make sure you rinse daily due to limescale. Bathroom needs some organisation due to lack of space. If the hand towel hook to the left was taken down and moved you could put shelves in the corner to accommodate toiletries. Shower itself is very small and if you turn it on high it soaks the floor. Our drains smelt and there is no extractor fan to turn on plus the drain cover is not secured on floor. When you are downstairs in reception area the toilet is downstairs at the side in bar area. The bottom step is wood and broken and covered over with a mat! That is a accident waiting to happen plus the floor leading to the toilet has small puddles so be careful to look. Dinner area is upstairs and as we only stayed B&B i can only comment on breakfast. Variety of choice including boiled, scrambled and fried eggs, bacon, cheese, ham, tomatoes, beans, toast, cereal, yoghurt etc. You would not leave hungry thats for sure. Staff were lovely and helpful and we enjoyed sitting outside front area in the evenings however bar does close at 11pm. Overall great location for beach and marina around the corner and a few minutes walk up hill to Lake Voulismeni. Be sure to visit Spinalonga, very interesting and we done the day trip €26 I think or €28 meal included. On last day we got reception to order us a taxi and spent the day at the seaside town of Elounda. Definitely worth a visit and €17 going and coming back we asked the driver if he would come for us and he did €18.
