Cheap Holidays to Dubai Marina

When people think of Dubai, they generally picture plush hotels and expensive shopping, however the Gulf metropolis also offer incredible holiday experiences for children. As a city that was essentially built in a few decades, it’s not surprising that holidays to Dubai offer almost anything you and your family could want!

The Dubai Marina has beaches, restaurants and hotels aplenty – and there are unquestionably some of the best in the world. The pleasant waves and warm water will mean the little ones won’t want to leave the sands, and that’s even before they look up and marvel at the skyscrapers all around. If you do manage to tear the family away from the beach, then trips to the seemingly endless luxury malls and the nearby desert dunes can’t be missed.

When you’re done with the city-sized malls, you can find some slightly cheaper wares at one of the many street markets dotted around. The locals know how hot their city can get, so a cool drink or an ice cream for the kids is never hard to find!

If you prefer to enjoy some local culture, it’s easy to catch some camel racing in Dubai, or even enjoy riding one yourself (at a slightly slower pace). And of course, the day can be finished off at one of the hundreds of incredible restaurants you can find in the city. As one of the most eclectic food centres in the world, you’ll always be able to find somewhere the whole family can enjoy, no matter what type of food you’re after.

A Guide to Dubai Marina Holidays

Marina Beach

Marina Beach

Dubai’s Marina Beach has literally everything you could ever want from a beach. Warm waters, fine sand and a scorching sun make this a beach-goers paradise. If the rays get a bit too intense it’s easy to find a parasol to hire, plus the beach rarely gets too crowded, so the kids can swim and play without threatening to run over someone else’s sandcastle. Nearby shops and restaurants also mean that you never have to venture too far from your relaxing spot to find refreshments. From this beach you can also see the world-famous Palm Islands – you can get an even closer look by renting a jet ski from one of the beach vendors!

Visit Legoland Dubai

Visit Legoland Dubai

Very close to Dubai Marina is Legoland Dubai. There isn’t a child (or adult, for that matter) alive who can resist the charms of the world’s most popular toy. The incredible installations and sculptures made out of plastic bricks will wow the kids, and if the heat gets too much, there’s even a Legoland water park attached to it, so the whole family can cool off. The park is open from 10am to 6pm. A day ticket costs 245Dirham (about £50), however prices are cheaper if you book in advance.

Dubai Miracle Garden

Dubai Miracle Garden

A slightly more peaceful day out, the Miracle Garden is a short bus ride inland from the Marina. The beautiful garden provides a figurative oasis in the concrete jungle of Dubai. The endless array of flowers and colourful installations are a treat for the eye. The kids will enjoy the massive aircraft made of flowers, while parents will enjoy the tranquil nature of the gardens.

OliOli Children's Museum

OliOli Children's Museum

The slogan for Dubai's OliOli Children’s Museum is ‘the joy of discovery’, and it certainly lives up to it. Designed for children aged between two and 11, OliOli is packed with fun, educating exhibitions. These have been created by some of the world’s leading educators and development psychologists, so you can be sure that a visit to the museum will leave your kids in a state of wonder for days afterward. The museum is close to the Dubai Creek, and is open every day of the week.

Getting Around Dubai Marina

🚌 Transport in the Dubai Marina Region

As one of the world’s most modern cities, Dubai’s transport infrastructure is second-to-none. Pick up a Nol Card to use all the public transport, including the metro, buses, trams and water buses. Every hotel will offer you a quick and easy guide on which transport to take in order to get to your destination.

Travelling by bus or carYou can take the Dubai Metro or a water taxi while in this amazing city to get from A to B in style - and with speed. There are local buses too, and it might be worth getting a Nol card to use for your transport throughout the resort. Massive roads and highways make travelling by car easy enough in Dubai. Of course, your hire car might look out of place next to the many expensive luxury cars which fill the streets! Taxis are also always easy to find.
Passports and Visas

Dubai is in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). British citizens can visit the UAE for 30 days, free of charge, and will not require a visa. Always ensure that your passport is in date for all the dates you are travelling though.

Health and Safety

Dubai is a very safe city, however certain local customs and laws must be adhered to. Alcohol can only be served in certain hotels, and acting in a drunken manner in public can get you arrested. Public nudity of any sort is outlawed, and public displays of affection – even kissing in a restaurant – can also get you in trouble. Gay couples should also take care when in public and should avoid even holding hands. Do not drop litter or swear in public while visiting Dubai. Travellers with young children should also take care that they don’t overheat during a day of sightseeing.

Vaccinations

No vaccinations are required when visiting Dubai. It is recommended that you get boosters for any routine vaccinations you already have before you travel though.
