Cheap Holidays to Valencia

Holidays to Valencia, the port city on Spain’s southeastern coast, are a fun affair with an interesting mix of natural scenery and manmade tourist attractions. Crowned as the third largest city in Spain, Valencia offers a fabulous city break amid a blend of white-sand beaches, authentic medieval castles and modernist art deco architecture, plus a buzzing nightlife. It’s no surprise that Valencia holidays have something exciting for everyone...

Valencia melds the old with the new beautifully and is home to wonderfully clean swathes of sand and inviting sunshine practically all-year-round. This popular holiday region sits on Spain’s east coast, and there are miles of sands to choose from – all boasting sun loungers, watersports and seafront cafes and restaurants are plentiful. Costa Blanca’s “White Coast” also runs the length of this region, meaning beach holidays are a pretty big deal here. If you’ve got the kids in tow, head to some of the regions splash-tastic water parks, with Aqualandia and Terra Mitica ready to whizz you down white-kuckle chutes and flumes.

Endowed with grand architecture, lofty bell towers that provide mesmerizing views of the city’s skyline and Goya paintings in a constituent chapel, the Valencia Cathedral is a must-see for cultural enthusiasts. Be sure to also wander Valencia Town, where you’ll find grand palaces and churches of the Old Quarter brushing shoulders with upbeat bars and must-visit attractions; while the tree-lined plazas and courtyards of nearby Alicante make way for the city’s chic boutiques and scenic marina – ideal for an atmospheric evening out. Wrap up a fun-fueled day by sampling the best of the local cuisine at one of the alfresco restaurants in town.

A Guide to Valencia Holidays

Valencia City's Coastline

Valencia City's Coastline

The city boasts a fabulous location beside the sea, and the sandy beaches are spacious, clean and stretch for miles! Valencia’s most popular beach, La Malvarrosa, stretches around the harbour and is split into sections such as the Playa las Arenas and the Playa Cabanyal. The beach extends all the way up to Playa de Patacona. There are shallow sands ideal for children and unspoilt and undeveloped locations to chill in this beach haven – so you’re sure to find something for everyone.

Potter Through The Plazas

Potter Through The Plazas

The well-planned plazas and squares in Spain are lined by pretty trees, offering cool shade along the city’s bustling lanes, access points and obscure roads and courtyards. The Plaza de la Reina, or ‘Queen's Square’ in English, is one of the most beautiful streets located in the Old Town. While there, search the labyrinthine backstreets for some authentic Valencian paella or tapas – sure to satisfy hungry tourists. After, why not visit the largest inner-city urban park in Europe? With maze-like landscaping there’s plenty to keep you occupied here. Walk, cycle or play cricket in the central grounds, this natural retreat makes for a calm hour or two away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Visit Valencia Cathedral

Visit Valencia Cathedral

The grand Valencia Cathedral is definitely worth visiting for history and culture lovers. It’s home to the famed Holy Grail, which is allegedly the actual cup that Jesus drank from at the last supper. The cathedral has many other interesting artefacts on display though, and the chapel of San Francisco de Borja has two Goya paintings. Whether religiously or culturally inclined, this place of worship will leave you awe-inspired – even if you’re looking at the exterior alone!
