Casinos, nightlife and larger-than-life hotels: there’s nothing quite like holidays to The Strip, Las Vegas! The beating heart of Las Vegas, Nevada, The Strip is a 6.8km (4.2-mile) central road that encompasses everything this electrifying city is known for, from 24-hour casinos to must-see live shows. With all this, and the jaw-dropping Grand Canyon just a four-hour drive away, holidays to The Strip, Las Vegas, never fail to disappoint.
Carved into the middle of the Mojave Desert, Sin City boasts year-round sunshine and very few rain days, meaning there really is no bad time to visit! During the height of summer you can cool off at one of the hotel’s pool parties, or soak up the constant air conditioning inside the casinos. November through to March tend to be the cooler, less stifling months, but even then you’ll most likely need to remember the sunscreen.
The Strip, Las Vegas holidays attract friends and families looking for the holiday of a lifetime. Few people forget the first time they see The Strip: lined with imposing and luxurious hotels on each side, it’s a pulsating melting pot of all-day entertainment. By day The Strip offers up shopping, family attractions and rides, and by night it’s transformed into a destination for concert-goers and partiers.
Holidays to The Strip, Las Vegas, aren’t all about the glitz and the glamour though - you’ll also find historic exhibitions and delicious steakhouses hiding in amongst all the neon lights. Plus, it’s also the starting point for exploring more of the area around Las Vegas, including the Hoover Dam, Grand Canyon National Park, and the Valley of Fire State Park.
A walk along The Strip takes you on a trip all around the world. With its recreation of the Big Apple’s skyline, plus the New York-New York hotel and casino is impossible to miss. Out front there’s a mini Empire State Building, Grand Central Terminal, and a half-scale replica of the Statue of Liberty. Two doors down, the Luxor hotel takes guests to the shores of Egypt; if the giant Sphinx of Giza doesn’t catch your eye, then the pyramid with its powerful nighttime Sky Beam, definitely will. And then there’s the Venetian hotel, where guests can take a gondola ride along the Grand Canal or bask in the shadows of Las Vegas’ very own St Mark’s Square.
Adrenaline-seekers can head to the top of the Stratosphere Hotel for the chance to experience the highest thrill rides in the US. At 1,149 feet above ground level, Big Shot!, Insanity and X-Scream whirls and propels riders around in the air, with the Las Vegas lights glistening from below. Get an unlimited ride pass - if you dare! There’s also the SkyJump, which sees riders prove their mettle by leaping from the Stratosphere Tower at 829 feet. It’s the Guinness World Record’s highest controlled descent, with speeds reaching a whopping 40 miles per hour. Those who like their experiences on the more sedate side, however, will be pleased to know there’s also an Observation Deck which provides 360-degree views out over The Strip and beyond.
You won’t just find the high rollers by the casino tables. The High Roller observation wheel at the Linq Hotel offers sweeping views of The Strip from a height of 550 feet - officially making it the world’s tallest Ferris wheel. Head up during the day to spot all The Strip’s iconic sights, or book yourself onto a nighttime ride for a glimpse of Vegas’ vibrant nightlife. One rotation takes 30 minutes, and there’s the option to upgrade to a party pod which features an open bar and a bartender. If you’re travelling with a group, you can even book a VIP private cabin with customisable packages.
Elegance is the name of the game at the luxurious Bellagio hotel, where poker pros are often found at the high-stake tables inside the casino. But one of the hotel’s most famous sights is out front in the form of an 8-acre lake. A free choreographed water feature show takes place every 30 minutes in the afternoons, and every 15 minutes from 8pm until midnight. The spectacular show draws hundreds of people in every day, with fountains spurting out water to the tune of songs including The Star Spangled Banner and Elvis Presley’s Viva Las Vegas.
