As a by-product of two caves collapsing, the Inland Sea can be found in the Dwejra area of Gozo, and is predominantly used by bathers and snorkellers. The water is astounding and the tunnel, which connects the caves with the Med beyond, is popular with scuba divers. Many of the isle's day boat trips will take you through the caves, so remember to pack your camera.

🚌 Transport in the Gozo Region

Hop-on-hop-off tour buses are popular in Gozo but car hire is available if you want a little more freedom and flexibility. There are also a range of regular bus services that operate from the island’s capital, Victoria. Ferries are available to take you between Gozo and Malta, with boats also running to the sister island of Comino. Taxis are plentiful, and scooters and motorbikes can also be hired.

Travelling by bus or car There is an excellent inexpensive bus service that connects Victoria with the rest of the island, as well as hop-on-hop-off open top buses which are ideal for tourists wanting to see the main sights. Hiring a car is a perfect and flexible way of exploring Gozo, and the roads are far quieter than those on Malta, which can make a nice change. Driving is on the left hand side of the road.
